Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

ALilje2012Hello

She has been awesome. She is a year old now and is well trained and well mannered. It was not a walk in the park, but it was fun and worth while.

ALilje2012Into the 9

So I am starting and finishing, with breaks, 5.9s. Which is pretty much a beginner level for someone who is in shape. It took me about 10 months to get here. I had to build up my strength in my arms, back, and hands. I also had to get over my irrational fear of heights and failing equipment (thank you Cliffhanger). But is has been loads of fun. It is kind of good to start at the bottom because I get to make more progress than someone who started where I am today. Lots of fun though. 2 years ago

ALilje2012stealing

My Shiba always steals our socks :) and the toilet paper. It’s pretty funny when it is not annoying. 2 years ago

ALilje2012Shiba number 2

Is coming at the end of August. So that should be a lot of fun. However, I am not looking forward to potty-training again, it’s no fun when you live on the fourth floor with no elevator. 2 years ago

ALilje2012Just starting this goal.

I am planning on working my way up from the bottom. I have read a few of these books already, but I plan on reading them again as they come up in the queue. Should be loads of fun. 2 years ago

ALilje2012May

The Shinning by Stephen King.

This was a pretty scary book. I had to put it down an come back to it a few times because the tension got to be overbearing. It’s a little overlong though. 2 years ago
