My clothes are already feeling more comfortable! Up next… the 10 lb. mark. I’m fairly certain that I can make it by the end of May. At the beginning of the year my goal was to lose an average of 5 lbs/month. I didn’t really start working on this until recently though, so I’m behind schedule. Still, if I stay focused I think I can salvage it. 3 days ago

I was skeptical at first, but after my knee pain disappeared after a week of having a healthy juice or 2/day, I’m convinced. I’m actually going to start a 15 day guided “reboot” next Thursday, in which I’ll stick to a vegan diet, and try at least 5 days of straight juice in the middle of it.
I would never have attempted this a month ago, but after trying it for a few days, I feel like it will help me interrupt some bad habits and build some new positive ones. I talked to my doctor and have been gradually reducing the amount of crap in my diet, and I’m already feeling better. One of my best friends is a dietician, so I can talk with her if I run into problems too. I know that there will be challenges, but I’m excited to try it and see what happens. 4 days ago

Another recipe from the Reboot with Joe website. I LOVE this first thing in the morning, or in the afternoon to kind of wake myself up.
I double the recipe because I like to make enough for 2 servings and my juicer isn’t awesome.
fennel – I use a whole one.
basil – a couple of handfuls or whatever I can afford if I don’t have fresh at home
2 red grapefruit

... and I’ve always worked for a non-profit or government program that should qualify. I think I had to apply for an income based repayment plan first, and I took care of that today. Once I hear back from Sallie Mae, I’ll investigate more and see if my prior payments count and how to document them. 4 days ago

I thought this would be a really big deal, but it wasn’t. It took about an hour, and that’s just because I forgot my PIN. It cuts my monthly payments in half, and more importantly, I had to get this taken care of before I could work toward qualifying for public service loan forgiveness. 4 days ago

It’s not like they’re my closest friends, but it made me really happy to see Dave, Patrick, and Jonathan at the pub! 1 week ago

Derek is my friend’s brother, and we used to hang out a little bit too. He’s cranky but funny, and he helped me out when I desperately needed to know how to yell game-winning goal in French. He’s also really fun to argue hockey with. 1 week ago

I love the way this tastes, but it’s an absolute mess to make. I use curly parsley because my juicer handles it better than the flat leaf parsley. I throw in a peeled lemon, tomato, cucumber to make it go farther, and half a red onion. Before I drink it, I add some sea salt and a drizzle of olive oil. I don’t like it as well as the regular taboule that I make, but it’s pretty good. 1 week ago

It’s not bad! Cleaning up the juicer is a pain in the arse, but I mainly juiced for a week and lost about 6 lbs. I noticed fewer cravings and more energy after the 2nd day, and my knee hasn’t been bothering me as much either. 1 week ago

I made it back for a few days this spring, and stayed at a new B&B in the Plateau. I used French a lot too, and it came back to me better than expected. French really makes me happy. 1 week ago

I’ve promised to visit Jess for ages, but lacked follow through. I finally did it this year! I really liked Portland and I’d love to go back, but Montreal still feels like the place that I should be working toward as a permanent home. 1 week ago

I’m not great at measuring. I used a pint of blueberries, most of a bag of purple grapes from the grocery, and a handful of mint. It was also really good, but quite sweet, so I’d have it for an occasional treat, not as a meal. 1 week ago

I found a recipe on the Reboot With Joe website, but I just added stuff according to what I had on hand.
Most of a fresh pineapple
small bunch of cilantro
1 lime (peeled)
1 jalapeno (de-seeded)
I think that’s it? It was amazing. Most of the juices that I’ve tried so far are okay, and they make me feel good… but I would make this one just because I love the taste of it. 1 week ago

I’m sure that I made more than 3 new recipes, but I’m also fairly certain that I didn’t try 52. I’m currently on a mostly juice cleanse, which should help me catch up because new juice recipes are easy. 1 week ago

This wasn’t exactly a meaningful contact, but it still made my heart beat a little faster to hear from him. I have an ex-romantic interest that’s in Istanbul right now, but might be moving to Portland for work at some point. I sent him a quick message letting him know that I was finally going to travel there, and he sent a flirty reply. He’s attractive, but in all honesty the main attraction might be that he provides an excuse to travel to Turkey. I wrote back to him, so we’ll see. It never hurts to have contacts abroad, right? 3 months ago
