changed to get a British passport, as I have now had an American one for a couple of months! 12 months ago
Found a groupon for a local optometrist, and decided, hey, why not? So I went in! Learned what I could!
(slight difficulty seeing distance from left eye, not enough for glasses to be worth getting. Huzzah!) 15 months ago
How I did it: After seeing my first pantomime perhaps seven years ago, I knew it was a theatrical adventure I wanted to get involved in. That much audience interaction, silly jokes, strange characters, random song and dance numbers with bastardized lyrics... Seemed fantastic.
So, when I finally graduated from UVic, the Christmas Panto was one of the first places I looked to, in Vancouver, as a possible place to perform. So much fun. Read how I did it… 15 months ago
No improv yet, per say, but I did perform a Fringe show (The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – which has a fair bit of improvising in it) and bits in SAY WHA?! and TEEN ANGST (both Fringe editions), this September.
So that’s something. 19 months ago
I have been cast as Wakey Fakey (okay, Fakir) in a local Christmas panto this year! 19 months ago
I performed a one man show at Victoria Fringe this summer! William vs the World, a geeky reference-laden show about a narcissistic jerk who doesn’t want to become a better person, but does anyway.
Okay, it’s also a Christian play where the main character really doesn’t like Christians or the idea of something having power over his life.
Not sure how to market it. It’s a good show, but I need to find a hook for it. Perhaps edit it some more. But not for the next little while – I’m not excited by it at the moment. 19 months ago
Haven’t been at 43things for a while! Not only did I write it, I performed it in September! Went rather well – I have a number of tweaks and changes to make before seeing if I can tour with it across Canada’s Fringe Festivals. :) 19 months ago
Huzzah! Finished reading the final book. I didn’t know it had been written in Asimov’s final living year… the end says it all, really – a fine epitaph for himself:
“It has been said that Hari Seldon left this life as he lived it, for he died with the future he created unfolding all around him…”
Indeed, good sir. Indeed. 22 months ago
Thank you! Seven years in the running, but well worth it. I am fond of (was fond of) this place. 23 months ago
Had the official convocation ceremony today. I am now Andrew Wade, BA, BFA.
My life is again my own, without a scaffolding structure holding me for the next few years, or at any time beyond.
