Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

Colton ProviasA couple more sites

Memrise is one of my favorite sites for learning languages, but there’s a couple more you should also check out:

Duolingo – Free site that let’s you learn French with the pronunciation being tested as well.

Lang-8 – A blog platform where you try to blog in the foreign language you are learning and native speakers can give you corrections. 7 months ago

Beginner’s mistake. Darn it. >_<

As I said, I’m learning. Just started reading about particles and now I realize my mistake.

Thanks for alerting me to it, though! 17 months ago

Have you tried Wunderlist? It lets you split it into separate lists. 2 years ago

Colton ProviasIn progress

With 8 music projects and 4 programming projects all going simultaneously, things get clogged up. I’m now working on a way to break it all down so I can push everything through efficiently while maintaining flexibility. 2 years ago

Might have been me who mentioned memrise. Another great site to check out is duolingo where you can learn German, French, and Spanish while also helping to translate the internet. 2 years ago

Nice and clean, although just two recommendations. First, turn off commenting on the audio page or else you may find some nasty comments or others using it to advertise their music (I learned that from experience). Secondly, provide a contact page so those looking to hire you or contact you can do so. For contact, you can either use the form capability from the Jetpack plugin or I would also recommend Contact Form 7. 2 years ago

Maybe it’s because he had a bad experience moving so quickly with her that he doesn’t want the chance of suffering it this time and prefers to take things slow and more cautiously. 2 years ago

Were you learning Linux via a GUI (GNOME, KDE, XFCE, etc.) or were you doing it via shell? If via shell, was it bash, csh, or another popular shell?
