Daffer_KentHave you been to Mt Everest too?

Thanks for the comment, we’d be traveling with kids, so have to take it easy.
Eyeballs drying out, that sounds HOT! 11 hours ago
Being clearer with the agent, might be a good start.
You’re right, we just need one person to buy it. Not 10.
We spent some time yesterday tidying and cleaning the kids bedroom and removing the dark curtains, so it looks much better and bigger. Our garden looks so inviting right now. If a gardener comes to view, I think we could have our one buyer.
Good luck with finding your next home. 6 days ago
It’s called Unfolding the Napkin, and it about using pictures to tell stories, mostly in a work or strategy context.
Visual thinking is a hot topic at my work. I am enjoying the book and he has a bunch of good ideas.
Once a week, I sit in the excellent Finch Coffee House with a flat white, and work through the workbook.
Yesterday I was quite proud of my horse representing Montana :-) 1 week ago
I think some progress towards your dreams or goals is possible, even if it is just an hour or two a week.
I believe you can still daydream and work towards your dreams and goals and be a better role model for your kids.
My daughter was telling me about another child at her school, who practices every day to be a popstar. At almost 8, she thinks this is unlikely and her friend is really wasting her time. Kids get taught very early to contain their dreams and to limit themselves. But someone’s going to be that popstar.
I think showing your kids that persistence and dreams can work some magic would be a great example. I’m not sure I’m succeeding, but I’d like to try!
How else could you make more progress? Give up television, I’ll bet that would give you a few more hours a week to achieve things.
“I develop a magnificent obsession, knowing that drop here, a drop there, soon becomes a flood.” from an affirmation I once read in the excellent book: “Write it down, make it happen” by Henriette Klauser. 1 week ago
Stressful if I let it.
The sellers of the house we want to buy are getting nervous and want to put it back on the market. We have an offer, £10k under our asking, and £5k less than our offer in January. But the £5k is all equity…..and means I’d have to dip still further into my savings to pull this off.
Our agent called, pretty much recommending we drop our price to get things cracking. They only get paid, when they actually sell, and he can smell a commission. He put words in my mouth, and an idea in my head…...when I think about it….I don’t think that, and I don’t agree, and NO, don’t do anything. Just leave me alone. Creep.
My DH and I are so unimpressed with the process. Makes me realise how sweet we had it with purchasing our home.
I’m going to sleep on it, before I call them. See if I get some inspiration in the night.
It’s May, and we started this process back in December. The opportunity cost has to factor in here somewhere, but I’m not sure why we should be the only ones taking a hit? 1 week ago
My daughter’s birthday in less than a month. Which means, as an organised parent, I should really have the birthday party or celebrations all organised.
I am so busy with work at the moment. I’m not sleeping…..birthday feels like another pressure, when I should be excited about it. Okay mum, don’t give in to guilt, just Do it, and get organised. 2 weeks ago
I had a massage (lovely) and there was music playing. You know that New-Age stuff, no singing, but this had the ocean and dolphins chirping or squealing in it. I start off thinking, oh no, not the music, but by the end I was kind of enjoying the dolphins and water sounds. And was reminded of this goal. 2 weeks ago
I love self-help, and I guess they are Help books.
I love reading fiction, but last night I spent 5 minutes in the Psychology and Self-help section and came across the parenting book.
All good input, even if I take one idea or strategy, I think it’s worth a read.
Our house seems calmer and more focused lately, plus a few more laughs. I love it when my kids laugh, awesome feeling when we all get on so well. 2 weeks ago
It really does demonstrate that owning stuff can really get in the way of your life.
Our house looks reasonably tidy, but not like this…kids toys and loads of books clutter our place up 2 weeks ago
The kids enjoyed playing in the dens in the woods. We met up with friends and the kids got on pretty well. 2 weeks ago
It was below our asking price and below the offer we accepted last time.
I want to get a bit more, but it is a good sign, and he’s coming for a second viewing later this week.
The house looks great so clean and tidy, wish I lived like this the rest of the time. 2 weeks ago
Our buyers lost their buyers, and our agent recommended we put it back on the market.
Feels a bit cold, but after four months we really do want to get moving. 3 weeks ago
My mother and stepfather are visiting, so has been a busy week, between work and seeing them every night. The children are loving it. It is so nice to have family around us. 3 weeks ago
Camber Sands is one of the few sandy beaches in the South East.
We had a nice lunch outside in the sun, then went for a walk and play on the beach.
Walking over the sand dunes to the beach reminded me of my childhood in New Zealand. Just magic. 1 month ago
sounds really bad.
I used to hate kale as a kid, but had to eat. Now I like it, but not with sweet things! Eek. 1 month ago
Such a lovely walk out in the Kentish weald.
Weather was so mild today, spring is finally here.
Very muddy, but that was kind of fun 1 month ago
Eldest had a meltdown, over socks, but I stayed fairly calm. 1 month ago
I have been saying I’d like to do this walk, for maybe two years?? Everytime my DH says what shall we do today? I’d say, the walk in Southborough. I swear, ** two years.
So today, HE says, shall we do that walk? I didn’t believe him actually. But today we did the walk!
It was so good, some descents and climbs and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Very muddy though.
My four year old rode his walking bike (balance bike) and then we carried it part of the way. He was so stoic, what a great kid.
A great day, great walk and finally some great weather. Awesome. 1 month ago
and suddenly parents are urgently trying to update their MMR immunisation shots.
Measles can blind, and can be fatal. It’s not always a simple infection.
My son had a virus last week, actually we’ve nearly all had it, a miserable pesky thing with swollen glands and sore throats. So I’m waiting until he seems absolutely 100% before I book him in for this. No excuses, but I think feeling (and being) strong is important. 1 month ago
At our company, we have “counsellors” for every employee, often your line manager but not always. But we have regular conversations about work performance and progression.
If your role has no career path, or you are at the top of it, is there a sideways move you might enjoy? How could you challenge yourself? Study? Creating a new role? Broadening things out somehow? Take on some of your bosses role so they can progress?
Your position is similar to mine. I’m a mother, I’ve been with my firm for 10 years, they offer me flexible working and I work part-time, but I have changed roles twice in the last four years. I really value all of these things. (My problem is they don’t recruit behind me, I seem to keep some aspects of these roles.)
Good luck! 1 month ago
or at least me and DH liked it. The kids less so.
Had a hilarious attempt at baking soda bread to go with it. I forgot to put in the baking soda, and it looked like a brick.
I’m trying to eat less bread, but I was impressed by the bread on Masterchef. So I thought I’d have a go, epic fail. Hilarious. Made me laugh anyway 1 month ago
I’m not really that found of swimming pools, I don’t like the chlorine. And with a 4 year old and a 7 year old, I can’t swim lengths and get some proper exercise. But my DH needed to do some study, so we got out of his hair for a few hours. My children enjoyed the pool. 1 month ago
and a few of my other goals are missing here. Like losing weight, and stopping biting my nails. I have bitten my nails for more than 30 years, I looked at them and thought it is time to try and stop this. I have changed other habits or practices, why not this one?
So I am trying again. My nails are looking better already. I have to watch chewing my fingernails and cuticles unconsciously. I thought that using moisturiser on my hands regularly might help. And others who have succeeded here suggest varnishing nails. 1 month ago
Sometimes visible from the north of Scotland.
I guess I had Norway or Sweden in mind, maybe Iceland. But those are places that are interesting to visit in summer, in order to see the midnight sun and make the most of the sunshine there.
The best time to see the northern lights is in winter I think, because it would be so dark for so much of the day. 1 month ago
You eat only apples for a day or two. Or a fruit fast, where other fruit are allowed.
After all the chocolate and sweets at Easter, I feel disappointed in myself. Might be a good time to try this out. 1 month ago
