Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

Fatboyslimwatercolour practise

As part of a botanical drawing class I am doing, I have been practising painting leaves using watercolour. It’s a medium I’ve always been quite intimidated by, but I think I am finally improving. 7 months ago

Fatboyslimno cheers left...

...but what a great entry! I’m glad you had a wonderful, special day with your family! 12 months ago

I have my illustration work up on my on website, Facebook, Flickr, deviantArt, and with an agency. I use Facebook as my main portfolio, deviantArt has everything – including sketches and crap stuff, Flickr I use as a back up of all my files and my agency’s website focusses on children’s book illustration.

I guess I can call this goal done. :-) 12 months ago

FatboyslimI'm re-opening this goal

I still have no time to take it up just now, but if it’s not on my to-do list, it definitely will never happen! 12 months ago

Wow, my last entry on this goal was 5 years ago! Well, I’ve certainly been creating since then. I must post some pictures! 12 months ago

Fatboyslimnot painting, but plenty of drawing

I have done a fair bit of drawing this year, including another botanical illustration class which was great fun. 12 months ago

Fatboyslimone step closer?

I met a New Zealand illustrator over a year ago who runs courses on children’s illustrations. I signed up to one of her courses and after she saw some of my drawings said she would be happy for me to sign up to her illustration agency. So I now have an agent! One step closer? 12 months ago

Well, it took 5 and a half years – and I had to get married for it to happen – but I FINALLY convinced my parents to come and visit me in the UK while I lived there. 2 years ago

FatboyslimOMG Minxy

I haven’t been on 43t for too long and I’ve only just learnt about this extremely difficult time you are going through. I’m so sorry to hear.

Stay strong.

FatboyslimD - William Dalrymple

In Xanadu – A Quest

At the age of twenty-two, William Dalrymple left his college in Cambridge to travel to the ruins of Kublai Khan’s stately pleasure dome in Xanadu. This is an account of a quest which took him and his companions across the width of Asia, along dusty, forgotten roads, through villages and cities full of unexpected hospitality and wildly improbable escapades, to Coleridge’s Xanadu itself. At once funny and knowledgeable, In Xanadu is in the finest tradition of British travel writing. Told with an exhilarating blend of eloquence, wit, poetry and delight, it is already established as a classic of its kind. 2 years ago

FatboyslimThanks Minxy!

Sorry for my late response, I’ve been pretty busy with Christmas and all, as I’m sure you’ll understand.

We have been married for 5 months already, it’s gone so fast, and yes we are having a great time back in NZ. It’s weird, it’s almost like we never moved away. Although I have been missing the UK and I’m sure we will be back at some point in the future.

Our honeymoon was fab too, I just love Asia. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to go.

I hope you and your family had a fun and safe xmas!

FatboyslimL - Stieg Larsson

The girl with the dragon tattoo

It was forty years ago that sixteen-year-old Harriet Vanger disappeared. Her uncle, Henrik Vanger, a very rich industrialist, believes that Harriet was murdered, but he has not been able to prove this. Henrik thinks that someone in his family is the murderer. In the process of investigation, a forty-year history of the Vanger family is explored, exposing a complicated system of financial fraud as well as the Swedish society’s link to Nazism and a general lack of morality, especially toward women. 3 years ago

Now I intend to actually use it each time I need to spell something out – rather than make up my own words – to ensure I don’t forget!

Fatboyslimacrylic nails

I had some acrylic nails put on over the weekend and I’m really pleased with the result. I went for a natural French manicure look. It’s not something I would do long term though as I couldn’t justify the cost and I know I would get bored with the upkeep – having to go back every few weeks to touch them up. But at the moment my nails look fab! And in the meantime, my real nails are growing underneath. 3 years ago
