So far this year, I’ve been reacquainting with the works of Plato and really enjoying every bit of it. The little reading I set out to do initially has naturally expanded to more and more. The beauty of it all being that there is very nearly an endless supply of material to draw from, and a lot of it is free. Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Hume, Mill, Kierkegaard, Sartre; easily a lifetime of reading, rereading, questioning, reflecting, thinking, etc.
My goal is to crack open a book, read at least a little every day, and see what these philosophers can get me to think about. 1 month ago

I manage to get some reading in every year. There a lot of great books out there that I know I haven’t read & this year I’d like to read a least one book a month until the end of the year. Wish me luck! 4 months ago

I’m young, but my triglyceride levels are way to high & high disease runs high in my family. I’m going back for lab work in 6 months and really want my levels to be were they should.
The plan is to:
1) eat less read meat, pork & starches in favor of chicken, fish, whole grains, & green leafy veggies.
2) cut out sugary drinks like soda, fruit juices, & starbucks.
3) take a daily fish oil supplement.
4) get more regular exercise in the form of running, cycling & weight training.
5) loose about 10-15lbs in the process
Wish me luck! 6 months ago

I live 6 miles from were I work, and for the exception of a couple hundred feet, almost the entire distance is covered by a nice paved bike trail that is off from the road and well maintained. I’ve been working at my current station for almost 2 years now, and never tried commute biking. I’ve ridden the distance before and it only takes a little more time to do it on bike.
I found out I’m getting a very nice used bike for my birthday next month, and now I think it’ll be a good time to start biking to work.
I used to do a lot of running on my days off, but since we started trying at home daycare for my son, a lot of the spare time I used to train has been taken up. By biking to work I figure I’ll get some of that time back. The only real cost to me is getting out of the house a little earlier, but at the benefit of starting my day off with a 6 mile ride under my belt, two out of three days, and saving just a little extra on gas.
I’m really looking forward to this goal. :) 7 months ago

I’ve had a couple ideas that I’ve sort of put together into brainstorming projects. Nothing much beyond that yet, though. I’d really like to get in the habit of writing something everyday. 8 months ago

This goal is going abysmally so far.
I really need to find a way to stick to regularly studying French. I think part of the problem has been trying to pick up were I left off. That is not were I need to be. I need to go back a few lessons and pick up there. I’d left off on section 3, but tomorrow I’m going to back to section 2 and redoing it so that my mind is right of section 3. 8 months ago

I wrote my 1st entry today in mirror today. It was fun starting @ the back of the journal and working my way to the front from left to right. It is very challenging, but fun! 8 months ago

I want to start taking a 30 minute nap between 1-3, daily.
Because of my job, I can’t reliably get between 7-9 hours of sleep every night. I think a daily afternoon nap could help me get over this. In addition, I think this would be a better alternative to the afternoon caffeine fix. 12 months ago

In addition to improving my core workout to include more exercises and stretching, I’m also switching the days I do my workout. Traditionally, I would do my core work on the same day as my strength training (2-3 times per week), but starting today I’m doing it every day I’m not strength training (3-4 times per week).
I figure that in addition to simply working more days out of the week, not doing core work on my strength day will help improve my gains in both, since I won’t be breaking down my muscles as much on the same day, but more progressively over the week. Very interested to see how this plays out. 12 months ago

This month I’m reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. It’s free for the Kindle and I’m already about 1/4 through it. I’m planning on finishing it over the weekend. Very enjoyable children’s lit. I actually hadn’t realized there is a massive series of books from this author about Oz. 12 months ago

I have been doing very solid core work for months and I’m very proud of the results so far. For the summer, I’m really going to up the ante and work on further development and fat loss. I’ve already researched several ways to improve my current regimen, including making some exercises more difficult/advanced and even incorporating new ones. I’m really excited about how much more I may improve. 12 months ago

Now that school’s over, I’ll be doubling and tripling my efforts to work through the Rosetta Stone program. I hope to be through a significant portion by the end of summer. 12 months ago

Well, I slacked up this year so far with my goal, but in the past 2 1/2 weeks I read the Hunger Games series, so I feel like I’m at least caught up to this month. I had a great time reading and I’m looking forward to picking my next book to read. Cheers and good luck to everyone’s reading goals. 13 months ago

Today I was able to do a handstand, using the wall for support. It wasn’t a true handstand, but I feel like it is a start for developing the muscles and balance required from such a strenuous move, as well as introducing myself to and getting more comfortable with the feeling of being upside down. 13 months ago
