Gigabite12 books in 2013

One of my New Years Resolutions is to read a book every month. Here’s a list of stuff I’d like to read in 2013:

1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky
2. Here Comes Trouble – Michael Moore
3. Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger
4. An Abundance of Katherines – John Green
5. The Fault in our Stars – John Green
6. The Old Man and the Sea – Ernest Hemingway
7. something by Kurt Vonnegut
8. something by George Orwell (1984, Animal Farm)
9. something by Michael Crichton (Andromeda Strain, etc.)

I made a list like this last year and didn’t read most of the stuff on it so I’d like to stick to it more this year. 5 months ago

Gigabitestarting off rough

I seriously want to stay focused and on track with this new year’s resolution, unlike last year. Last year I exercised but it was sporadic. I started 2013 pretty rough because I’ve been lazy on winter vacation but I’m back in school as of today and I’m ready to START this thing. My aim right now is to get some consistency going – even if I just start off with 2-3 days a week and work my way up to 4-5. 5 months ago

Gigabite2013 GET SWOLE.

I know it’s cliche to have a fitness related New Year’s resolution but I don’t care. I didn’t exactly succeed in this last year but I have determination. Also on JAN 1st (yesterday) I was super lazy but I’m starting fresh today. My goal is to exercise at least 4 days per week – strength training & cardio. 5 months ago

Gigabite1 Month purge

I’m NOT overweight by any means. After seeing a few documentaries like SuperSize Me and Food Inc. I’d like to try to go 1 month without fast food because I do eat it a lot. After the 1 month fast, the goal will be to eat it as less as possible. This isn’t about losing weight, it’s about eating a healthier diet with less processed/saturated fatty/salty foods and more protein/fiber/vitamin rich food.

The following restaurants are NOT okay:
McDonalds
Burger King
CHICK-FIL-A
Wendy’s
Taco Bell
KFC
White Castle
Panda Express
Subway
Five Guys
Dominoes/Pizza Hut/Papa John’s/

Chipotle is OK as long as I continue getting NO sour cream, black beans instead of pinto, and brown rice instead of white. 5 months ago

GigabiteRe-Watch

I have the extended director’s cut version of all 3 movies but I haven’t watched them in YEARS… After seeing The Hobbit in theaters it has sparked my interest again. Wouldn’t mind reading the books as well… 5 months ago

Gigabitetrying again in 2013

List of Books I finished:
The Great Gatsby
Looking For Alaska

List of Books I read most of but didn’t finish 100%:
Here Comes Trouble
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Beowulf
Macbeth

(The list of books I PLANNED on reading but never got to is much longer than both of these)

So I didn’t come close to my goal of 12 books in 2012, but I did learn a lot in the process that will help me accomplish this in 2013.
- – - #1 I get really ambitious and come up with a huge list of books I want to read, but never get to them because I don’t read consistently. This goal requires reading regularly every month and FINISHING a book every month, not procrastinating.
- – - #2 I have come to the realization that I almost never finish the books that are assigned to me in English class. This is usually because I have lots of other homework and activities going on so I’ll read as much as I need for an essay or quiz and then stop. I am going to try to change this habit in 2013 because I’ll have a lot of reading from school that I should be counting towards my goal…as long as I finish them!

With only 4 days left in 2012, I am planning a reasonable list of books to read next. I am determined to achieve this goal in 2013!!! 5 months ago

GigabiteBeowulf

This book was assigned in English class and it takes me a long time to dissect everything because it’s an OLD epic poem. However I am more than half-way and I can actually add it to the list of books I’ve FINISHED in 2012. At this point I’m probably not going to hit my goal of 12 (because there have been a couple things I just never finished..) but we’ll see how much I end up reading these last 3 months of the year. I’ll definitely be going for the same goal in 2013 =) 8 months ago
