Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

I was much better during the day today but this evening is really testing me.

I listened to the Max Kirsten hypnotherapy Quit Smoking app last night to send me to sleep. I’m not sure if it helps at all but it is very relaxing so I am going to listen to it again tonight.

i never realized it was this hard! (sounds stupid but I really didn’t)

I even ordered a fuck-tonne of chocolate from Hotel Chocolat earlier – and I don’t like chocolate. 23 months ago

Going for a driving lesson in the fog whilst wanting to shout/cry/smoke 100 cigarettes is not fun. I do not recommend it. My concentration was pretty shit and I made quite a few small mistakes. I explained to my instructor before hand though.

I feel sorry for J too, I wouldn’t like to be around me right now.

1 day 7 hours 56 mins since I last had a cigarette. 23 months ago

I fell down the hill broke my phone, scraped half the flowers of my Doc Martens and bruised my leg.

Two people saw and instead of the usual ‘must stand up quickly and pretend nothing happened’ I spent a minute or two sat there trying to get my phone to work.

I love that picture :D23 months ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]24 hours.

I’m pretty sure this is the first time in over 14 years that I haven’t had a cigarette for 24 hours.

This is horrible. 23 months ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]It arrived

It arrived this morning. I still have nearly a whole packet of cigarettes to smoke before I start using the E-cig though so I should start tomorrow :)

I spoke to J about it and he has ordered one too. I just said the house would smell nicer, his food would taste better and that I don’t want him to die.

Ha agreed to give it a try but I know it is my suggestion and so it may not work. That’s okay. There’s no pressure. It is great that he wants to give it a go though:)

(Plus his mum may just love me forever if he quits! haha) 23 months ago

Do you ever hoop outside?

My lighter hoop just goes to all the wrong places when chest hooping, it is a bit to small too which doesn’t help!

I am really loving the leg hooping, it has opened up a whole new area to hoop on/in/with.

I managed to get it from my knees to my waist 4 times today :) 23 months ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]I can leg hoop!

Chest/shoulder hooping was feeling really awkward still and then I hit myself in the face and split my lip so I took a break from it. I tried leg hooping again and it worked! Been messing around with one leg hooping and walking. Now I am trying to work on bringing it up to my waist from my legs. 23 months ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]13th (or possibly 14th)

This week I have done traffic lights, zebra crossings, driving on bigger roads, smaller roads. Just a lot of variation which was really good. 23 months ago

Burning Man video’s always make me wish I was back there. 23 months ago

I am a dirty smoker. I know it is a horrible habit.

I bought an E-cig last year but lost it and started smoking normal cigarettes again. They are so expensive though £7 ($11) for a 20 pack.

I am going to buy a E-cig starter kit next week instead of my cigarettes and ban myself from buying any more. If use it for one week and don’t buy any cigarettes then it will have paid for itself. I am going to allow myself to smoke roll ups every now and then as a pack of tobacco is a lot cheaper and I hate them so a pack lasts forever.

It’s not about wanting to quit smoking it’s about wanting to save money.

I do eventually want to quit1 year ago

Happy Christmas, I hope everyone has a great day 1 year ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]Bloody hell!

I just cried for a full half an hour watching snowman and the snowdog.

The poor dog, the poor snowman!

I think I may drown in my tears.

Happy Christmas everyone :) 1 year ago

I know 6 people who have changed their name so I guess it doesn’t seem odd to me. Plus it is so easy to do.

I think I remember reading that to do it formally in the US you have to give your reasons to a judge (although it is the internet so it was probably wrong)1 year ago

Who the f%*% decided putting 12 glass panels in a door was a good idea?

The worst thing to paint. Ever. 1 year ago

[♥]-Emily-[♥]The list

Paint 5 upstairs doors.
Put new door handles on the doors.
Paint doorframes
Paint the skirting boards/ dado rails.
Paint the stair rail.
Clean the bathroom.
Tidy the bedroom.
Clean the kitchen.
Take the wood out to the garage.
Sort out the recycling.
Sort out the hallway floor.
Put new lightswitch covers on.

Probably wont get it all done but I have my list. 1 year ago

No it wasn’t :)

I just have always wanted a different name. I remember trying to get my mum to call me Jessica when I was 7/8 and getting upset that the school wouldn’t change the register.

Now just seemed like the best time to do it.

I did phone my family up before I did it to discuss it though. 1 year ago
