One Sunday morning a few weeks ago, my father surprised me by announcing he’d buy me the Fuji X100 for my 18th birthday!
After perusing our buying options online, we finally sat down today and ordered it together!! It is on target to be delivered well before my birthday on the 4th of December.
My Dad used to be a photographer, so there is a special bonding element to this gift – and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. :) 6 months ago
I have some exciting news to share. I’ve been accepted into my dream university to study my dream course – a Bachelor of Journalism!
I didn’t think that this goal would have been completed as quickly as it has been, but no complaints haha!
Wishing all the school-leavers here on 43things much success with their university applications in the coming months. 6 months ago
Today was a great (big) last day at school. First up, all of the students in the school formed a huge human arch that meandered through the school, and all the year twelves ran through it whooping and cheering like spartans. It was amazing!! We then had a funny morning ceremony with performances and comedic awards (most selfies taken, most lost property, most likely to win an award etc.) Then we ran out onto the oval and had a massive water fight, before being allowed to spend the rest of the day as we pleased.
My good year 11 friend Nick stopped me while I was leaving the school after the water fight. He gave me a big hug, before whipping his backpack in front of him and pulling out a card and a large box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Such a lovely thing to do! After that, I headed to the shops to pick out a dress for the valedictory ceremony.
So, tonight was the night that I officially graduated from high school. The valedictory ceremony was beautiful, and everyone looked great. I was in very good company tonight; my Mum, Dad and best friend Jaz came along! Nick was there too, which was a nice surprise.
At the end of the night, as I went to leave, I couldn’t help but get teary. Nick must’ve have spotted that, and strode over to grab my shoulders and say “No. Don’t cry. Come onnnn. No. Pleaase.”
“I’m not cryyyying Nick.” I answered.
“Yes you are! You liar. Don’t cryyy.” he pleaded, making me laugh. Jaz was nearby, joining in with his funny chorus of pleads. I truly love those two.
I”m off to bed now. What a wonderful, exciting, bittersweet day it’s been. 7 months ago
I seem to not include weekends on this, cos I’m staying up very late. But weekdays are going good! There has been only one night that I have deviated from this goal by an hour or so. Let’s hope I can keep it up for the next 5 days leading up to graduation! 7 months ago
Four more days of final exams, and then I’m done! Finished forever! So excited and thankful to be so close to the end. 7 months ago
I’m so close to being finished with highschool! I’ve one last week of lessons this week, and then the following two weeks are filled with International Baccalaureate final exams. Then two weeks after they’re done, I’ll be turning eighteen!
So much excitement on the horizon. I’m nervous about closing this chapter of my life, but it’s right to say that the adventure is just beginning. 7 months ago
