This was a tough week. I’m just stuck, pondering my life, my job, my relationship, my home, my future. I feel trapped. Do I need to make changes or am I just being dumb, whiny, and ungrateful for what I have. 2 weeks ago

Feeling better about this now. In the last week I have managed to do a few niggly items that needed attention: done and submitted my taxes, double checked that my overtime pay was correct, sorted out my emergency bank account info, submitted the extended health care claim for my glasses bought last December. Plus I have kept up to date on my regular daily responsibilities which previously have been starting to fall apart.

Today I am going to give my car a thorough cleaning, inside and out, since it is pretty disgusting. Tomorrow I am going to go through my closet and wardrobe and do a spring cleaning/purging. After that I think this is complete. 3 weeks ago

I ran the TC 10K this morning. I really didn’t think I was going to do it as I’m not feeling 100% (mentally and physically) and haven’t been training for the last month. I was talking myself out of it thinking I shouldn’t be doing this but then I realized I live right in the centre of the route and I can just walk home from any point in 10 minutes if I start feeling crappy. Anyways, it wasn’t an easy run, my legs were so exhausted and heavy by the 6km mark and I had to walk a handful of times. But my time was 1 hour 5 minutes. That’s only 4 minutes slower than the 10K I did a couple months ago! Plus there were probably 12,000-14,000 people running this race which made it cramped and congested in some parts. I’m so proud of myself today. I’d love to be able to do 10K in under 1 hour, I think I will make that my goal next time. Here is the route.3 weeks ago

Feeling a bit better yesterday and today. The weather has been beautiful, sunny, and warm. I took my girl out for a walk yesterday and was surrounded by blue and yellow wild spring flowers and shiny green grass and fresh ocean air. It did me good. Sushi dinner was great too. Plus my mom shared some good news with me.

I am just trying my best to appreciate the little things right now, stay present, and figure out what I can do now to make some changes that better the future. 4 weeks ago

Not yet. Sickness is still holding me back energy-wise. I feel like I have a ton of stuff on my to-do list that perpetually never gets done, for weeks, months even. I can barely keep up with the daily basics (work, food, cleaning, sleeping, loving, dog time) right now. But taxes are due at the end of the month. I’m going to make that the focus of my free time tonight and see how much I can get done. Maybe that’ll get the ball rolling. 4 weeks ago

Sigh… This is the second year in a row. April comes around and I feel blue. I have so much to be grateful for in my life, I don’t know why I feel so unsatisfied. 4 weeks ago

Ok, I can definitely say I’ve been doing excellent at this lately! I’ve been going in to work an hour earlier than normal the last couple weeks in effort to get my work done on time and not have to stay late into the evening. It’s kinda nice being there before everyone else and having some time to work quietly before the phone calls and emails start coming in.

Soon I’ll be back to normal hours and want to make sure I don’t fall into the habit of being late all the time again. 1 month ago

I feel like I’ve been in a time warp the last 2 weeks. It’s the busy time of the year at work and I’ve been stuck doing overtime and working weekends. Today marks my last day of meeting deadlines, tomorrow I will clean up everything else that wasn’t quite as important, and Tuesday I’ll be off. Then things will return to normal.

The house is a mess, my dog has been staying with my family (I miss her), I am sleep deprived and fighting off a cold. I want to get back on track. I’ve intentionally fallen off the wagon with my eating plans, just not enough time to organize proper meals. I haven’t been able to run with my group in a couple weeks, and I need to sign up for new classes/activities. There are things I want to do this spring and need to start taking some action, as soon as I have more time! 1 month ago

Today’s run was only 5K. I been feeling kinda tired and drained the last few days so I thought I’d do a short one today. Ugh, it was tough. My legs were so tired and heavy the entire time and my head just foggy. I had to walk once halfway through. I don’t know why it seemed so hard.

Last Sunday I did an 8.5K with my group and it seemed so easy and it was over quickly. I don’t know why the 5K today was such a drag. But, the hard ones are the ones that make me tougher, so I’m still glad I did it.

Here was today’s run.

Here was last Sunday’s 8.5K.2 months ago

We got the barbecue set up last weekend and have used it twice so far. I marinated some steaks last weekend. And yesterday we had marinated beef ribs and grilled asparagus with butter and lemon. It was so good.
I worry that the barbecue smoke will bother my neighbours though as it goes up right past their windows. Downside of living in a condo I guess. 2 months ago

15) Using recipe books. I never have cooked with recipes before, unless I was baking something.

Now that I am eating primal it’s been great to have these cookbooks for guidance and to provide new ideas. I am not very confidant at cooking meats so it’s been a good learning experience for me. I’ve definitely gotten more skilled in the last couple weeks and have tried so many new foods and spices. Many more to come. 2 months ago

Still going strong with this. BF bought 8 primal cookbooks from Amazon so I have been using those the past week for new ideas. So far so good. I think what really makes a difference between an okay meal and a great meal is the spices and herbs that are used and the sauces/dressings. I made two dressing last night that I normally wouldn’t have thought of and they made my food so much better! I really want to get the grill set up outside because a lot of the meat recipes involve grilling. Hopefully next weekend! 2 months ago

I missed running with my group this morning. I didn’t sleep well and with the time change I just couldn’t get my butt out of bed. Decided to go for a run on my own though so I don’t fall behind.

I want to keep track of my routes. Here was today’s route… 6.3 kms.

Pooch came along with me and did really well. She is the perfect dog to run with. 2 months ago

My soap is ready now. It needed to “season” for 5 weeks but I can start using it any time now. I have so much I’m going to give a few bars away to family.

I want to make another batch sometime soon before I forget how to. Still need a hand blender and thermometer,a couple extra bowls and mixing spoons would be good too. 2 months ago

14) March 4th- Hamburgers. This may sound weird but I have never made homemade hamburgers before. We chopped 1 red pepper, half and onion, 1 chile pepper, and a clove of garlic in the food processor. Added that to some ground beef and added cumin, salt and pepper. Eaten with some fancy morrocan mustard and no bun. So good! 2 months ago

13) March 2nd- I took public transit to downtown Vancouver all by myself! 1 ferry, 1 bus, 1 skytrain and it only took 3 hours.
Now I know I can do it on my own, if I need to. 2 months ago

12) March 2nd- I saw an NHL game

The Canucks versus the Kings. We had box seats with my BF’s company which were amazing and the Canucks won 5-2. Free food, free drinks, a great game, and we made it on the big screen twice. Very fun. 2 months ago

So, so, so glad the days are getting longer and it’s light enough now for me and my girl to walk in the park after work. Hooray! 2 months ago

Took my pooch for a walk after work today, and although it was pretty blustery, there were so many little green things poking up from the ground. I saw daffodils, snowdrops, and bright purple, white, and yellow crocuses. So pretty.

I have also seen a couple trees with the beginnings of cherry blossoms on them. I am so excited for cherry blossom time in my neighbourhood! 2 months ago
