I’ve tried a mindfulness course with a cd before, but found it hard to commit to 20 minutes per day. I think I am going to try again with the short, free exercises on this website:

I have made contact with a local Buddhist temple. I am going to an introductory evening. I think it would be useful for me to meditate with other people and to go somewhere other than home to do it. 20 months ago
How I did it: I am still probably pretty untidy in many people's terms, bbut I am happier with my level of tidiness. It is partly because I moved to a bigger house and have much more space. It is partly because I am happier in general and have more energy to do what I know will benefit me in the long term rather than surviving from moment to moment.
Mostly, though, it is a slow process of learning to think in the long term. Taking things slowly and not being to harsh when things didn't go well.
I started with washing up straight after dinner - that made me feel good as there is nothing worse than dirty dishes the next day. I then scheduled two days a week for washing clothes which works for me. Clothes and dishes are the two things that tend to get everywhere. Everything else I tidy up as I go in little bits.
I have also just started going through all my important papers and filing them. Just needs a bit of time and a calm attitude. I have been off work for 2 weeks so that probably helped.
I am much less likely to go crazy with frustration madly trying to find things amongst all the rubbish - which is great.

I committed to exercising once a week for 6 weeks. I have done 5 weeks so far. I have been swimming most weeks and did step aerobics on the stairs one week. I feel like I can move onto twice a week soon. I think this slow, gradual build up is best for me. 3 years ago
