Originally went to tackle these 7 weeks ago (see Carn Gorm, Munro no. 32), had to turn back in the snow and icy conditions tho. Today was a totally different ballgame, great weather was in my T-Shirt for most of the day. Photo is myself at summit of Carn Mairg.

Wasn’t feeling the fittest, but just ran a short run, 0.89 miles, in 4 minutes 47 the other day. It was downhill a fair bit, but maybe I’m not as unfit as I thought!

Nice walk tonight up from Bonaly, have been around these hills several times don’t think I’ve ever climbed them though. White Hill (not on the list of 41) was an added bonus, really good views and easy to get to. Photo is of the sunset this eveing on the way back to the car.

Scrambling is a bit more advanced than hillwalking, in that you need to use your hands, but not quite as complicated as rock climbing. Good practice for going up the Munros.

The weather and daylight are improving – I’d much rather be outside than stuck in watching DVD’s. Cancelled my Lovefilm (like Netfix) subscription, still got a few DVDs to watch but apart from that it’s not going to be a priority! I’ve watched around 70 movies from the list the last 3 months or so… maybe start up again in winter.

Most offer a reasonable lunch time deal.

The Kitchin – Excellent, went yesterday for lunch can’t recommend highly enough! Alleged to be the best of the five!

The other Four Starred Restaurants are: Martin Wisharts, Number One at the Balmoral, 21212, Castle Terrace.

Went for a three course meal, came with so many free extras it was unbelievable!
First of all we got a small selection of vegetable and bread sticks with a nice dip, then a selection of homemade breads, then finally the starter arrived (I had mackerel, was delicious!). Next up was an “amuse-bouche” (I’d never heard of it before, google it if you’re unsure!). Then the main course arrived (beef, pictured) – cooked to perfection of course! Then the dessert was a rum and raisin “baba”, while my sister opted for the lemon souffle. All absolutely incredible tasting, we spent almost two hours here and every minute was a pleasure. The staff were so attentive and friendly without ever feeling they were constantly in your face. Will definitely go back for a special occassion! :)

The most Easterly Munro, just over a 2 hour drive then 3:45 to get to the top and back (book says 5-6 hours). Lots of snow the last 3-400m! :) Climbed with Callum & Simon, good day out!

Film about a struggling screen writer who bumps into an ageing silent film star who is deluding herself into thinking she still captivates millions.
Wouldn’t have ranked it quite as highly up the chart, but an interesting film noir nonetheless.
