How I did it: An international move on the horizon was a huge motivating factor for me!
Getting all the instruction manuals scanned was not only a huge undertaking, but now that they are on PC they are so much easier to access than going through a pile of dusty papers too. Some of them are available online so didn't even need scanning, just downloading :)
Be ruthless with magazines that you have kept for just a couple of articles. Scan the ones you will really use, or just get rid of the magazines. Odds are you won't actually ever use them.
Chuck most of the old bills etc, and only keep the things you really need by scanning them. Odds are you will never need most of these either!
