Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

dforestier I do actually have a plan

I’m so proud of myself. I’ve actually started on the sketchbook project. Ended up signing up for Sketchbook Project Limited because I totally failed at doing my other one. The last one I honestly forgot about and then ran out of time, but with this one I actually have a plan. I deconstructed my book and have planned out what will be on each spread so that I can rebind it with the type of papers that I want. The current sketchbook is actually a combination of both of my 2012 ones. Since just one didn’t have quite enough pages in it, I took them both apart, combined them, and added some wet media paper. I haven’t decided if I’m gonna bind it first or do the art work first and bind it after. I guess I have to decide that today. I’m really excited! As sad as it sounds, this is the first time I’ve gotten this far, lol. 2 years ago

dforestierNot a bad start

This past week was my first week working on the goal of “doing yoga again.” I think I did pretty good. I did 20 minutes a day for five days in a row and then I took two days off. I didn’t really mean to take the two days off, but those are the days my husband had off work and madness ensued, lol. This week I’m going to go for doing it every day :) We’ll see. 2 years ago

dforestierStarting today

I wanted to start today with my yoga goal because it’s the first of the month. Seems like a good day to start. I’m setting aside one hour per day for this, not that I will use the entire hour. My goal is 20 minutes to one hour per day. 2 years ago

dforestierPartial FAIL

So… there’s no possible way I’m going to be able to do the 2011 sketchbook project. Considering I have to mail it tomorrow and I don’t have anything done. But I’m also signed up for the limited edition of the project which isn’t due until April. So there’s still hope! I’m determined to do the limited-edition. I cannot fail at this for the fourth freaking time. 2 years ago

dforestierSketchbook Project FAIL

Yeeaah, Im currently on my 3rd Sketchbook Project, and have yet to actually complete one and send it in. I previously signed up for the 2011 Sketchbook Project, and the September sketchbook Monthly. I did half on the September project, and never even started the other one. Im only a few days away from failing for the 3rd time. I really really want to do it this time. I need to. 2 years ago

dforestierTime to finish

I never got to plan a nursery or get anything set up ahead of time. We lived with my inlaws until my son was 2 days old. After that he lived in my room even though he had a room of his own. He’s almost 6 months now, and theres just a plain crib, empty shelf, ugly rocking chair, and a futon in his room. No decorations except a few hanging stars over his bed. Even the crib sheets are white. Its so sad. Its hard for me to accomplish goals if I dont have a deadline, so Im giving myself 1 month. Time to finish the room. 2 years ago

dforestierAnd I call myself an artist, ha...

I havent painted anything in over a year. I keep meaning to. I have so many blank canvases, paper, and other media. I keep buying it with all these fantastic projects in mind, and still havent painted. I wanna try to set aside a certain number of hours per week as dedicated painting time. 2 years ago

dforestierLosing weight

I gained 40 pounds when I got pregnant with my son. I’ve lost almost 20, so I want to lose the other 20, plus 10 so that I don’t just look good but super good ;)
And its not so much the weight I concerned about, but more about the way I look. I dont have to weigh 100 lbs if I look good in a size 4/6. 2 years ago
