Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

genguPadova

Here I spent most of the time hanging out with people, so I didn’t take that many photos.
Anyhow, there are a few that are nice and that I would like to share, because this is also a beautiful city. :)

genguVenezia

This is one of my favorite cities, along with Amsterdam and I am starting to think that it is because of the canals. :) There is something soothing about water and I think that I could spend hours just sitting on the canal and enjoying sounds of water…
So, I have even more pictures of Venice than of Amsterdam and most of them are with pigeons! :D They were my friends for the day, but I have been careful enough to choose the pictures without pigeons, unless they are super cute. :)

genguAmsterDAMN!

Now, this was my main destination and also the place where I’ve spent the most time on my trip. :) It has been a little hard to pick out the pictures I want to post because I have like a million of them. :D I have decided to leave out the people (except for the accidental passengers and stand-biers:) and post only pictures of the city…and some animals. :)

Amsterdam :)

genguEindhoven

I took some pictures in every town if I had the time, trying to capture the spirit. :)
Here are some photos that were taken during a very short walk after I landed in Netherlands.

Travelling on my own gave me an opportunity to go crazy with the camera and enjoy all kinds of sights in this strange and beautiful world. :)
I wanted to share some of the photos, so here are some from the capitol of Hungary.

genguI am back. :)

I am glad and sad to say that I am back. It has been a wonderful journey and a fulfilling experience, but I missed my home and my bed, since I’ve been doing a lot of train sleeping these days. :)
I must say that this was a super exciting experience because I have met a lot of people that are surprisingly similar to me and my friends when it comes to points of view in life and the way they are living it. I have experienced cycling through Amsterdam and Padova and it was quite magical. I have also tried Couch Surfing for the first time when I was in Italy and it was great! I even went to the sea for one day. :)
All in all, it was an awesome journey and I had loads of fun with my new friends and with myself. :)
And the places I have visited are (some of them very briefly):
Budapest
Eindhoven
Amsterdam
Munich
Verona
Padova
Venezia
Sottomarino
Vienna.

genguI am getting close..

..to achieving this goal, since my trip to Amsterdam is only a few days away and I am going alone!! :)
BUT, this is not just a trip to Amsterdam, it is actually a mini Eurotour, which I planned and organized by myself and for myself. :)
I am leaving for Budapest by train and when I get there, I have about ten hours until my flight, so I’ll probably take a stroll around the city and enjoy it for a while. After that it’s Amsterdam, where I stay put for a few days. From there I leave for Venice by train, and I probably transfer in Paris, which is amazing, even though I have only one hour there (if I don’t change plans). :) Venice will also be my home for a few days, and then I go back to Serbia, once more by train and with transfer in Ljubljana or Zagreb.
It is not all 100% sure, but wherever I go it will be 100% interesting. :) 2 years ago

genguIt is official.

Booked, purchased and set. Monday I leave for Budapest, Hungary to catch a flight there since it is cheaper that way. The plane flies to Eindhoven and from there I am going to Amsterdam, where I will stay a few days. I can’t wait! :D 2 years ago

genguI absolutely enjoyed reading this..

It is one of the things that I have been thinking and talking about lately and I am so glad that someone else picked it up from the ether and spread it around. :)
What was going through my head is actually a question about omens, not if they exist (because I believe that they do), but if we need them as our guides, because I was convinced that everything is and will be as it should be, so whatever you do, you will find your right way. Unfortunately, I met some people who proved me wrong by showing me that they chose not to follow their omens and now they live unhappy lives. And those people are the ones that believe in nothing but scientifically proven facts, they do not allow any kind of magic to enter their lives, so I believe that you chose a path that will make you happy. :)
And if you ever have any doubts, just listen to Don Juan’s advise and ask yourself: Does this path have a heart? ..if it does, you’ll know you are on the right one. :)
P.S. If you haven’t read The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda, this could be the omen that will lead you to it. :) 2 years ago

genguNew plans.

Half plans actually. :) I am currently making plans for my vacation and Netherlands is the destination. It could easily happen that I don’t actually go to Amsterdam and go to some other Dutch town, but it really doesn’t matter as long as I see their beautiful architecture and nature. :) In general, my plan is to go camping and to go by train if possible, stay in Netherlands for a few days and then go to Italy to some place on the beach and stay there a couple more days.
But it would be best if I just hopped on a train and left the rest to faith. :D 2 years ago

genguFebruary

I saw this goal at my friends list and was amazed, so I added it as soon as a spot opened on my list.
..anyway, this is a very dear photo of my friends that visited me for a short time not so long ago. My cat found them and ate them within a few days, so we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, but I was enjoying their presence.
I think it is a February photo because it reminds me of those early plants that pick their way through the snow to indicate that spring is coming, but they wither away very shortly after their bloom. 2 years ago
