Our report cards don’t have any grades, they are all based on a rubrics and a narrative on the child describing the strengths, what they have done in class during the trimester, and finally what challenges they are facing and we we are going to do about them as their teacher. So we have to make sure that the parents are clear and that our language doesn’t freak them out. 19 months ago

A-MA-ZING! So satisfying. I love when a creator like Joss knows something is coming to an end cause he looks out for the details and gives a solid ending to all of his work. If I could give an award to an author or writer for most follow through. It would be Joss.

I know you speak of the soul, for someone like me or others who follow these codes, we know the first and most powerful tool is the soul and how you hold it can either cut through the greatest adversary or protect the one you love from the greatest weapon.
Like so many things that fall under the word tool. It is how you perceive the use and not the intent.
Now, as for your soul. In all of the life I have witness, no soul is as strong as the earth, as care free as the wind, nor fluid as the water, or as passionate as fire. You have the soul of ancients, but most importantly you have the soul of an ancient woman. Women’s souls, like their hearts, are nothing to be trifled with. The blade and wielder are one. It has been said, written, and passed on from generation to generation. It is never the blade that cuts but more so the mind that understands it and respecdts it. Angelo’s Manual of Arms, the Five Rings of Bushido, and countless other books, manuals, and tomes have showed how to not only swing it physically but mentally as well. We can also speak about the honor one has from knowing this knowledge, this art, this deadly ability. Nov. 14th- Teaching the social class structure of the Sumerian society and my children actually getting it! Getting told that my report card template explaining my ELA course was brilliant by my other boss.
Nov. 15th- Getting a hug from one of my students.
Nov. 16th- Eating a really good burger at Red Robin’s and knowing that my car was NOT stolen.
Nov. 17th- Getting observed in my ELA class and my boss seeing a class of really varying disabilities become enraptured with the creative writing process and hearing that it was an excellent class.
Nov. 18th- Getting my report cards done for my 6th Grade Humanities.

My friend Joe is a wonderful guy and a great painter whom I met when I opened the Gamers Grotto. When I left he stopped hanging there and also said that after I left, no one was painting. It was sad to hear that I was the only one that initiated any painting workshop there. (My grievances with the store is a whole conversation for another time.) Recently I managed to catch up with him and he told me he is having another child with his wife, Tea. I am so happy for him. He busted my chops for a good ten minutes on his paints drying up and all of his Space Marines unpainted and that we need to plan something soon. I miss painting with him. We used to come up with some amazing paint jobs and techniques. Its time to change that, so my list is to start making a regular schedule to paint with him and other friends somewhere out there. 19 months ago
I was in the bus on my way home and I realized I needed a rule book, black primer, and some supplies for my center team. As I got off the bus I figured, ” I will just run upstairs, grab my keys, and drive to my friend’s shop.” turns corner ” Just got to grab my….where is my car?” Apparently I was in a rush in the morning and didn’t see it was gone and originally thought it was stolen. Panic ensued and doubly so when it occurred to me that not only were my belongings in there but a friend’s commission. I called the police to file a report and after a while it dawned on them that they towed it the night before. So now almost an ENTIRE paycheck later, I got my car back. And there was much rejoicing yaaaaaaaaaay /SARCASM. That was only part of my week. HA! 19 months ago
Cleaning floors in my living room and bathroom, getting work done for school, and most importantly, the high light of my day, talking to my best friend and her son. That made me smile all day.

Tomorrow is a day to stand next to a Veteran and thank him or her for their service. It is also a day to remember all veteran’s in all wars on all sides. We forget that even they gave their lives for causes they believe in and in the end, in many ways, it didn’t matter. People lost lives. That is what matters. As Carl Sagan once said, “Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot.” The “pale blue dot” is Earth. He talked about it being a speck of dust in the cosmic arena. I am a conscientious objector, I have been a warrior in too many past lives. I believe in causes, I believe in moral rights, and most importantly I believe in helping those who are victims. I think one day we will all wake up and realize the horrible cruelties we have done to each other. Question is will we be able to forgive each others and ourselves.
I digress, despite how I feel about my government, about violence, and about the direction this world is heading. I will still stand at my opa’s grave, still look into the eyes of a soldier on leave in the subway, or the old men sitting outside sharing old war stories at the local VWF… Thank you. Thank you for protecting those who couldn’t protect themselves, thank you for standing up to tyrants, thank you for giving your lives for others. 19 months ago
Finished Buffy (again) finished Angel (again) and now finally watching Dollhouse. Joss is a genius and always getting cancelled. This poor guy is a legend, nay, a God among geek-dome. I have never seen this and its kinda funny. When I heard about the concept I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see it. I am glad that someone forced me to watch this. This is GREAT writing. 19 months ago
