I’m currently working 3 days a week, but this job will be over in a couple weeks. Need something else. 4 months ago

mcannonCompleted?

I believe it’s a mis-statement to say anyone ever “completes” this goal. Employment is a temporary period in between time periods of unemployment. One should always be looking for a new job. Do you agree? And by the way, I just accepted my second part time job. 5 months ago

The best way to tackle any of the CPA exams, is first to drum up the motivation, then review a section, test, review another, and test. I took notes as I was reviewing, and did as many multiple choice questions as I could. Good Luck, ansu83, I’m living proof it can be done. By the way, I used Yaeger videos to go thru the Wiley text. 7 months ago

Temp job has been working well for the last couple of weeks, but still would like to find something permanent. Several recruiters seem to be positive about my background. Hope it works out. 8 months ago

mcannonAlmost done?

Been using that Snore Guard for a couple weeks, however the wife says it isn’t working. I’ll be back to the dentist in a couple weeks so he can adjust the thing. He claims it will work after adjustment. 8 months ago

mcannonGot the temp job

Working as a temp employee has its advantages, and that’s what I’ll be doing for awhile, until something permanent comes along. 8 months ago

mcannonInterview in morning

Will have an interview in the morning for a temp job that could lead to full time. It’s about a 41 minute drive, and with gas prices where they are, that’s not too good. We’ll see. 8 months ago

I don’t believe it’s a good idea to start with the CPA exam until you can be “fully” committed to it. Now that being said, I was working full time when I was taking the exam, but my committment meant late nights studying and all weekend. The exam needs your full attention!

Good Luck. I’m sure you’ll get there eventually. 8 months ago

mcannonNow I've got to get a new job

I was layed off this week, because of a business merger that began last week. Now I’m full time looking for something new. Anybody out there that needs an experienced manufacturing controller, holding a CPA license? 8 months ago

mcannonWent to the dentist

The dentist offers something called a “SnoreGuard” that they say works for small to medium apneas. They took impressions of my teeth, and will send them off to the manufacturer. Will get the results in about 3 weeks. 9 months ago

mcannonPhone interview

I thought the phone interview went well. You never really know what the person on the other end of the line is thinking, but based on his interest in my resume, this may be going somewhere. 9 months ago

mcannonDoctor's Report

Doc said he wanted me to see my dentist, who could fit me with one of those mouth guard things. Said he wanted to see how that would work, and if it doesn’t work he’d send me to a Specialist. 9 months ago

Focus on your accounting classes for the moment, and worry about the CPA exam later. There will be lots of folks that can help with the exam. Good Luck! 10 months ago

mcannonPhone interview on Monday

Recruiter called and said company wants a phone interview on Monday. I’ll be doing some preparing this weekend. It’s for a Senior Plant Controller position, whatever that means. 10 months ago

I know FAR seems like it takes forever to get through all that material. I’ve thought about going through it again, even though I am a licensed CPA, just to remind myself of the pain. Good Luck jeannie611! 10 months ago

mcannonSleep study experience

Had a great many wires afixed to my bod before trying to go to sleep at the sleep center. Tossed and turned for most of the night, and finally got a couple hours of sleep. Best part was the technician unhooking me from all those wires, and telling me they got some “good data”. Hope to get some feedback in the next couple of weeks. 10 months ago

mcannonSleep study

Going in for a sleep study tonight. Maybe the experts can help me out. 10 months ago

The Virginia people circulated my resume to HQ, and the recruiter called with more questions this morning. Who knows what will happen. 10 months ago

Thanks for the comment. I’m finding it difficult to find a different job at my age, though now with a CPA license my current company isn’t paying me any more. I’ve got a couple things going with recruiters. We’ll see how that works out. 10 months ago

I got the Ninja notes for AUD and REG. Didn’t use them at all for REG, and I mostly just skimmed thru the AUD. All in all, I don’t think more notes were as helpful as doing more practice questions. 11 months ago

I started with FAR in early July, and took the exam at the end of August. My schedule was get up at 5 am, go to work, get 45 minutes of review/study at lunchtime, go home exhausted but force myself to study for an hour until my brain told me it wasn’t absorbing anything anymore. Take Friday evening off. Then put in as much as 20 hours on the weekend.

There’s a lot of material in FAR, as you know. It’s a lot to retain as far out as October. Good Luck. 11 months ago

mcannonAnother recruiter call

This time for a job in Virginia. I’ll follow through, but I don’t have my hopes up, yet. 11 months ago

I admire your persistance, jeannie ‘ole friend. Tackle that FAR animal, feel proud doing it, and proceed to the next step. You’re an amazing person for going through this….. 11 months ago

I agree with dc0823. If money is not an issue, I think spicing up your life with something new is always a good idea. Good Luck. 11 months ago

Good for you, taking the exam seriously! Probably too many people don’t do that. I work full time, also, and managed to get through all four sections over a 13 month time period. I used the weekends heavily, like 10 hours a day on both Saturday and Sunday. And would try to pick up an hour or two on weeknights, but would not always be successful doing so. You have to give your life to this exam. I pretty much gave up my workout schedule, and became anti-social in my neighborhood. Good Luck! 11 months ago

I agree with all the comments above. I thought I did great the first time I took AUD, and ended up with a 73. Didn’t think I did as well the second time, but scored an 87. Go figure. 12 months ago

Way to go. It’s a good feeling, isn’t it? 12 months ago
