Alas, I was late for my own birthday here, because I did not have computer access during my recent out-of-town adventures.
And, even though I’ve been back home and able to be amongst computers lately, I’m shamefully late with my thank-yous. But I truly do appreciate your birthday wishes. Thanks so much for your friendship here on 43 Things! 20 months ago
Now all I need is a sexy strapless dress with a long full skirt! :)
I hope cooler breezes are blowing your way since your birthday, or else that you’ve found a few sidewalk grates to stand upon (or both). This past month has been lots cooler here, for the most part. Thanks so much for your birthday wishes, HC! 20 months ago
It is always inspiring to read your posts, and I’m glad that I know you here at 43 Things. I do appreciate you taking time from your busy schedule to wish me happy birthday! 20 months ago
And then did all the dishes? That’s no small thing in my book! 20 months ago
My birthday was blessed in many ways, including receiving your kind message and all the other birthday messages here on 43 Things. Sorry it’s taken me such a fantastically long time to acknowledge it, but I really do appreciate it! 20 months ago
The cool breezes blew
The warm kitties purred
And my heart is still warmed
By your kind birthday words!
Thanks, Donna! I love your birthday poem!

I guess I am another year wiser, even if I don’t often feel that way. Thanks for your birthday wishes, and I did have a cooler day where I was (in Pittsburgh) – it was a gift just to get away from the August heat here.
Is that a lavendar blossom in your photo? I love the smell of lavendar. Is it from your garden? :) 20 months ago
I just hate to read that you’re struggling with this again. It must be so very frustrating!
Hope you’re feeling better soon. 20 months ago
Your little story reminds me of a Monopoly game I played with some homeless families who were staying at my church awhile back. I found it a bit ironic that people who had no money or possessions were having fun playing Monopoly, but I’m glad that they were having fun.
Don’t it always seem to go, that we don’t know what we’ve got ‘til it’s gone? Thanks for helping me be grateful for my own shelter and so many other advantages that I have today, and reminding me of how many right here are in desperate need. 20 months ago
It’s wonderful to see you back here posting again! I know I haven’t been around here much since I returned from my last trip, but I have been thinking of you. In fact, I drove past Panera Bread today and thought of you!
I did have a wonderful birthday, and I wish lots of love and joy for you in your latest home! I will certainly let you know if I’m ever in your neck of the woods, and I sincerely hope you’ll do the same if you’re ever back here in my neck of the woods. 20 months ago
I did enjoy my trip, and it seems like it was so very long ago! (Because it was! How time flies – I must be having fun! lol.)
It was not quite as exciting as going to Montana and Wyoming the year before, though. I found out that my niece is moving from LIvingston to Texas! Maybe I have some more travel adventures in my future. :)
I agree that the internet is a miracle to enable us to meet and get to know one another. Thanks so much for your friendship, wren, and thanks again for the birthday goal and wishes. 20 months ago
And I had no idea about the history of peaches in Delaware! The peach blossoms are beautiful, and there is a lot of interesting peach history in that blog post! I can’t read it all now, but I hope to come back and look at it more sometime soon.
I’m so happy to call you my friend too, MamaKitty! :) 20 months ago
I’ll have to tell my group that I have a Ding-a-Ling friend. :)
I am enjoying it. I was smiling on the way home from practice yesterday, because we practiced a new piece and it actually sounded great! (Possibly just beginner’s luck, or a minor miracle, but it was quite amazing!)
Thanks so much for letting me know about your bell-ringing experience. I’m glad you’re enjoying it, too. 20 months ago
I was invited to join a beginner’s handbell choir, and so we’re trying it out. I was worried that we wouldn’t be qualified, until a friend who’s already been doing it for a few years told me that the unofficial name of the group is The Dumb Bells. That, I’m qualified for.
So far, so good. In fact, it’s kinda fun. 20 months ago

Having you around here has always made 43 Things a more special and meaningful place to be. Thanks for being here, and thank-you for your kind and meaningful birthday wishes. 20 months ago
I am always looking for good short stories for my monthly discussion group called “Listening for God”. Are there any you could recommend for the group that they may not have read before? There should be some sort of religion or God-related theme to them. 20 months ago
...for the memories and the birthday wishes. I’m so glad that early on I had the courage to post an entry and let you know that we had that shared connection. You were such a help towards making me feel comforable when I first got here. (Although I was scared to post on your controversial subjects goal – remember that goal? But I posted anyways!)
I’m sorry I’m late to acknowledge your kind birthday wishes to me, and sorry to be late to wish you a happy birthday, Virgo friend. I hope I can face some more fears and make some progress on my dusty old but important goals this coming year. Thanks so much for all your help and encouragement, and for your example of hard work and persistance! 20 months ago
...for your wonderful birthday wish. You are a mentor to me and to many others here on how to do go about doing just that!
I can feel that warm breeze and imagine that blue tropical ocean. It feels nice. :) 20 months ago
And you’ve had a birthday recently, and I’m late to that too.
I hope this is a care of “better late than never!”
Thanks for your sparkling birthday message!

When my family and I were driving west across Ohio, there was a grey rainy stormcloud ahead of us, but it must have been travelling at about the same speed as we were for awhile, and the sun was getting low in the sky behind us, so we saw rainbows almost the whole way! We tried to take pictures from the moving car, but they didn’t look like the real thing. 20 months ago
I’m a lot late with my reply, but I do thank you for your happy, smiling birthday wishes. I did have a good birthday, and re-reading your message makes me stop to remember it. I got to spend it with family members whom I see too seldom, so it was a good birthday. Thank-you! :) 20 months ago
I’m honored that, in the midst of all your juggling, you made time to send them. My birthday was good, and it was good to get away for awhile.
Your picture reminds me of the young kitten that I recently placed with a friend. He told me after he got her home and introduced to him other cats, “she’s a real pistol.” I know she spent a lot of time in my bathroom launching herself into the air after toys.
I’ve got another one now who is a bit older and much more sedate, although she showed her crazy side a bit last night. Her fur length and color are similar to the two in your picture, if not the craziness level. (Thank God.) 20 months ago
...but it could just as well be me if the hair were a bit different and the big sleeping kitty were black.
And thanks for the favourable horoscope reading, Virgo friend. :) 20 months ago
...called Faith in Society, and the author, Simon Barrow, hasn’t posted anything since 2010. Several months before his final post, he wrote that a friend had asked him why he’d been so silent on his blog of late, and he replied that ”...(as I often say) if you start to worry about ‘not posting enough’ then something is seriously wrong in terms of life balance. Writing, in whatever form, and to whatever audience (or lack of audience) ought to be an effervescence not a chore, and other things in life ought to take priority. So if I’m here I’m here, and if I’m not I’m not, I guess.”
Reading this made me think likewise for me and 43 Things. Lately, other things seem to be taking priority, and my energy levels seem to be running low, and my computer is running slow, and the thought of posting here seems more a chore than an effervescence. I hope all this will change. (Tonight, I’m using a borrowed computer.) Until then, if I’m here, I’m here, and if I’m not, I’m not, I guess. 20 months ago

I’ve taken in a new cat for another friend. It’s too long a story to tell right now, but this one is currently recovering from her sterilization surgery in my bathroom.
She’s older than the last kitten, and exactly twice the size. And she’s somewhat tamer, loving to cuddle on my lap, but she doesn’t really know how to play, poor little thing. 20 months ago

I love, love, love your picture! It makes me feel warm and wonderful and peaceful and happy-kittycat-cozy just looking at it. I do apologize to you that I’ve been so slow to acknowledge your special gift, but please know that I truly am touched and honored to receive it.
My life is very untidy and unVirgo-like lately. (I wonder if I should consult my horoscope to know why?) But, all excuses aside, I send Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you, and I have a new goal tonight to add my two cents to the birthdaypolooooooza before your birthday month becomes history. 20 months ago
Dear Kimber, you always outdo yourself with your birthday entries. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to acknowledge your lovely thoughts and images, but I really do appreciate you taking the time to send them. It makes me feel happy today to look at them again! :)

After reading your recent entries, I don’t feel quite so guilty for taking so long to respond, since you’ve been so very busy anyways. I hope things are going well for you, and thanks so much for taking the time to send me a birthday message.
The very first cat we ever had arrived on Christmas morning in a gift box when I was in junior high school. She was a pathetically scrawny young Siamese cat, and she had that same pained expression on her face, accompanied by loud complaining meows. We fed her way too much Christmas turkey that day, and unintentionally made the poor little thing sick. In spite of all that, I fell in love with her in particular, and with cats in general. :) Thanks for the reminder! 20 months ago
