43things was a source of light in Kate’s life. She had found a special strength through this community, and for that, my family and I are grateful. Thank you to all those who sent prayers, thoughts, letters, flowers, and all the other beautiful gifts and inspiration Kate’s way.

seasonsofloveMore thanks and updates from Kate's mom...

Once again thank you to all who took time out to think, pray, or write to Kate. Kate received a beautiful bouquet of colorful wooden roses from someone on 43Things. They are sitting right next to her; I do not know who sent them, but thank you to whoever that is. She loves them, and they brighten up the room. 6 months ago

seasonsofloveWhat beautiful people you are...

Kate is receiving hospice care at home, but I’m sure if you sent a card to the center, she would receive and greatly appreciate it. Her full name is Katherine Mitchell.

Thank you, again, for all of your loving thoughts, words, and prayers. 7 months ago

seasonsofloveWith Loving Gratitude

Infinite thanks to Kimber, Francie, and all who have shown such love and support. Your goals, entries, and the comments that follow, and all the replies to my entry written last week are amazingly beautiful. This site is full of the most compassionate, loving people. I don’t even know where to begin to tell all of you how powerful your words are. So many of you obviously have a gift for putting words together to make such wonderful thoughts. I am in awe of that ability, and knowing that those thoughts are there for Kate and our family is overwhelmingly touching. Before this past week, I did not understand how an internet connection to people you may never even meet could be such an important part of Kate’s life but, now, I get it. Though she has had very little energy, I believe she has read every post, sometimes with tears in her eyes and sometimes with a smile on her face. You will probably never know the impact you have on her. Thank you for who you are showing yourselves to be.

I know Kimber had asked about Kate’s hospice care and donations. The hospice she is receiving is from Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center and it is wonderful, but she wanted me to let you know of a foundation her aunt is starting in her name. Seeing how much Kate’s computer has meant to her over the years for health and medical research, education, inspiration, and social connection, Kate’s aunt thought of starting a foundation that would provide a computer/iPad and Internet connection to teens/young adults with severe physical illness who would not otherwise have the ability to connect with the world. It is in its early stages of development and if anyone is interested, when things get a little more concrete, I can share the information with you.

Again, I can’t thank you all enough. I wish that I could comment on every one of these posts. Just know that Kate is getting strength from all of you.

Lots of love,
Teri 7 months ago

seasonsoflovePrayer request

This entry is being written by Kate’s (seasonsoflove) mom. Kate has been suffering with a digestive disease for many years and has recently been moved to hospice. I know that there are many people on this site who mean a lot to my daughter, so I wanted to let you know what was going on with her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

With love,
Teri 7 months ago

“Move as a total being, and accept things. Just for twenty-four hours, try it – total acceptance, whatsoever happens. Someone insults you, accept it; don’t react, and see what happens. Suddenly you will feel an energy flowing in you that you have not felt before.”

seasonsofloveHappy Belated Who-tastic Birthday, TheDoctorGirl ❣

The Tao of Who: Words to Live By From the Doctor

“Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It’s not the time that matters, it’s the person.”

“For some people, small, beautiful events are what life is all about.”

“There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t act a little childish sometimes.”

“Courage isn’t a matter of not being frightened, you know. It’s being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway.”

“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
