Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

shoemakerAND NOW

I see I’m soooo spaced, I’m repeating myself. 23 months ago

shoemakerMoving foward

I’ve moved my lists to EXEL – with each list on a different Tab.

This allows for multiple lists managed in parallel, with easy access.

Haven’t figured out how to manage the progects efficiently. Point that still needs concentrated work.

Also, need to find better balance between fiddling with the lists and actually doing whats on them. 23 months ago

Got marked done by mistake.

Can’t undo so I rewrote. 2 years ago

shoemakerBig issue now

Thoughts of ‘what next’. Scary – but can’t stay forever and better before the stuck feeling sets in. 2 years ago

shoemakerParking system

I set up a parking system that (mostly) works. Set of trays for different types of to do (inbox, write, review, meeting material). Keeps the desk pretty clear and the stuff pretty much on hand. 2 years ago

shoemakerEndless battle!!

Short term victories inevitably followed by deep regression. $#!+. 2 years ago

shoemakerGetting some progress.

Moved to an xl based list system. The main feature I like is having several lists in one place and with tabs to jump between lists.

I use a color code for the most urgent. Against the rules – I know – but I am making food progress.

Still feel a need for some outside help to move up. Maybe go for gtd distance coaching? But it’s rather pricey… 2 years ago

Two and a half years after I became a weekday vegan and cut the junk (no soft drinks of any kind, no coffee, only herbal tea, no chocolate);

Two years after I cut way back on vegtable oil and any other saturated fat;

Four months after I eliminated weekday gluten – and setlle for 4 slices of whole-wheat bread each weekend;

  • I’m still far from my ideal weight;
  • My cholesterol is very low – but my cardiologist says not enough to take me off my lipitor;
  • My migraines are not much better, and latley I’ve had a spiral of bad atacks (partly, it would seem, due to immense work pressure and crazy hours);
  • BUT I do feel much better about myself overall. 2 years ago

Not really…

BUT I do love the idea of really making something physical and real,
something useful – useful every day and all the time…
