I remember baking snickerdoodles in my high school home economics class. They were warm, delicious, and simple. Sometimes it’s the simple things that taste the best. I wanted to bake some cookies yesterday that reminded me of crisp autumn days and warm comfort food-snickerdoodles fit the bill perfectly. What’s not to love about sugary buttery cookies rolled in warm cinnamon and sugar? I had every ingredient in my pantry for the classic cookies except cream of tartar, so a quick google search led me to this recipe that left that ingredient out:

The cookies came out wonderful; crispy and crunchy on the outside, and fluffy and chewy on the inside….perrrrrfect. And they are extra yummy with a tall glass of milk, great for dunking :) 18 months ago

This is my beautiful baby girl Emma. She was born on August 5, 2011.

From the moment I first held her in my arms I made a silent pledge to always be the best mother I can be. Now I’m making this pledge not so silent. Emma is 3 months old now and I know some of the struggles and the difficulties and I know there will be plenty more ahead, but so far motherhood has been the greatest challenge I’ve ever faced. Someone once told me that being a mother is the hardest job you’ll ever love. And how true that is, being a mother is the most difficult and rewarding job I’ve ever had. I can be covered in spit-up, sleep deprived and near tears because she wont stop crying and suddenly she’ll look up at me with those big blue eyes and give me a big gummy grin that just melts my heart and warms my soul.

This goal is for you, Emma. It will never be complete; I will always work harder to be the mother you deserve. 18 months ago
