This is going to be quite a laundry list, but here goes…over the past two months, I have been grateful for:
meeting with members of my Dad’s Father’s family. It was fantastic to learn that we weren’t descended from train orphans, after all.
having found and visited my paternal Grandfather’s grave. My Dad was named after his Grandfather, Stephanus Scheidnast, who died of pulmonary tuberculosis at age 34 – just eight years after sailing to the U.S.
having a nice visit with my mom’s cousin Dianne. She had many excellent photos of our ancestors which she kindly allowed me to borrow so that I could photograph them for our online family album.
having seen MY eyes in photos of one of my ancestors…they are undoubtedly my Great Grandfather William’s eyes, which were passed on through my Mom and her Mom. I think it’s an amazing thing to have discovered…more so, since William lost one eye early in life (it had been replaced by a glass prosthetic).
a spectacular summer. The weather could not have been nicer.
how well my husband has coped with the stress involved in the critical phase of his project. We are both glad that he will be finished at the end of October!
our tentative plans to travel somewhere, ANYwhere, for most of February and part of March or January. India? Chile? southeast Asia? shrug
NOT having had the opportunity to smash the face of the punk that stole my iPod (that’s a long story!).
my husband replacing my iPod (rolling eyes, making a fist…).
having successfully completed my summer college courses.
all the birthdays – Mom, husband, pinknkit, IWABMY…any more I forgot, I apologize!
