How I did it: I worked for several months before I left, then found a cheap flight to London. I bought a rail pass (definitely worth the money if you're going all over the place) which allowed me to basically hop on a train and go anywhere. Couchsurfing.com is also a wonderful website that worked out better than I could have ever planned. This is an adventure that I would suggest to anyone, it is most certainly worth doing.
