tknightLoan # 42... A trailer for Victor

Given my background, I am very supportive of anyone trying to provide or facilitate private or public transport. Be it for people (my specialty) or goods.

In this case we have Brother Victor

Who after 15 years in the trade, sees the value of a larger trailer to deliver more goods in fewer trips. I agree with him.

tknightSituational B.P. is a bit_h

I have Situational B.P. (Sounds like an infomercial).

Unfortunately it is a fact.

Recently I signed up to be a Lab Rat to try and help my worsening arthritis pain.

One of the great side effects is that you get a lot of free blood work and clinical tests to establish base lines and to measure if there have been any changes.

Lab work that often costs a fortune when it is on your insurance/doctor’s time.

So…

My blood pressure now that I am in an environment where they don’t change my meds every time it is high (evil side effects from Blood Pressure meds)...

IS WAY DOWN

As in 110/70 down.

Dang people!

tknightAnother trip to P.F. Chang's....

P.F. Chang’s is and has been a favorite pit stop of ours for a number of years. Open until odd hours. A stable menu. Good food.

In my case, a love of Mongolian Beef. I just have to get my fix every now and then.

So the other day, I was getting fixed. With my beloved wife. And after a gastronomic battle, victory was declared (the food won).

And then the fortune cookie course.

Love is a present that can be given every single day you live.

Wow.

That was an anniversary present on a slip of paper that should be remembered for a lifetime. 3 weeks ago

tknightWhen no one will give you one... make one.

Odd experience. I was one of those folks who supposedly did everything right. Worked my way through school, went to a good university, graduated with a decent G.P.A. had experience as a supervisor. Worked up to manager. Got other areas of responsibility. Ended up as a Director on a national trade association board.

Suddenly you have too much experience. And the degree is common now. You are older than most of your peers. And suddenly no one wants you anymore. You are too expensive.

So you look. You try. You apply.

Usually no answers.

When someone wants 5-10 years experience, they do not want 20-30 years experience. G_d forbid.

So you start doing odd jobs. One little consult at a time. You advise on development. you advise on OSHA compliance. You advise on meeting regulations. In your own industry. In related industries. In new industries.

And suddenly you find that your odd jobs are now a growing concern. With tax reporting. Record keeping. Trade Associations. Standards. All the stuff you used to do for others.

Except now
it
is for
yourself. 3 weeks ago

tknightThis is a little strange, but it was for Halloween.....

My wife’s company has an annual contest apparently. This is an area where the department she is in had a terrible reputation.

A reputation for being very poor.

And maligned.

And even worse, scorned for their lack of achievement.

So I was volunteered to assist.

The criteria: decorate a pumpkin. There can be NO CARVING.

So this year, the submission is this: 7 months ago

tknightPost Rebuild - Take 2

Well; The surgeon was right about one thing. There would be “pain involved.”

What he did NOT say, was that the initial sensation post op is that I had a Charley Horse delivered with a chain saw.

Add that I was a LOT weaker than I thought.

Add a really cool hospital room. PT that started the day of surgery. A trapeze set constructed over my bed so I could get in and out of it.

Fast forward four days. Transfer to “acute rehabilitation facility” via ambulance to ensure my joint didn’t dislocate.

Add 10 days in a Nursing Home/Acute rehab facility.

GOOD G_D!.

Note to self… DO NOT SPEND END OF DAYS ON NURSING HOME IF THERE IS ANY CHOICE.

Go home. Rediscover that you cannot do most of what you did before.

FAST FORWARD another twenty one days….

I can drive.

I can walk without a cane sometimes (easier with). The pain levels are controllable and falling fast.

So a little more than five weeks post op…. there is light at the end of the tunnel. This time period vs. another twenty years to life… NOT A BAD TRADE! 7 months ago

tknightA rebuild is in order

Part of caring for myself involves trying to do something about my failing parts.

One of the things I inherited was a propensity towards arthritis. Now I have been experiencing problems with my knee for the past several years. Pain, functionality issues. Trouble walking. I used to be a trail runner to put this in perspective.

Well, after years of treatments, I finally got a diagnosis for the cause of the problem. Yes it is the arthritis. But it is in my HIP, not my knee.

It seems that an injury involving falling through a ceiling and smacking my hip on a joist was the root cause of a badly impacted hip joint. I was originally treated for, not the pain in my hip that I went to the OR about. But rather the ankle I had fractured.

Fast forward several years and I finally get an x-ray of the hip done; and low and behold, the hip is all but immobilized. I thought it was ,my knee that made it all but impossible to put on socks in the morning.

So after a lot of procrastination, I have scheduled my self for a total hip replacement. By going bionic, I have a good chance of restoring my functionality and stopping the unremitting pain in my knee at last.

It will be painful and take time to heal. But maybe, just maybe, I will be able to start walking again.

Take care of yourself. It requires caring enough about YOU to realize it is not just you that hurts. It is the loved ones around you that have to experience vicariously what you deal with every day.

It’s not fair to THEM if you don’t take care and fix that which you can.

So in this case, caring about myself involves caring enough to try to fix the problem. 9 months ago

tknight#34 Hey Taxi!

I cannot argue with someone helping their fellow man by giving him a ride…

So.

Number Thirty-Four goes out to Rezeq who needed a 3,000 USD loan from FATEN to help him cover the expenses needed to make necessary repairs to the taxi such as: changing the tires, changing the floor mats, changing the engine. This will increase the taxi’s efficiency and enable Rezeq to work extra hours and take more internal and external requests which will increase the family income.
