I remember a night when Deni H and I were having a major cheer war as we worked to break 10,000 cheers. While it was fun at the time, it’s not something I’d want to do again. Leaving the computer is so much more productive.
Good luck on getting to 1000. 20 months ago
I hate when that happens. Congrats on getting pierced. Can’t wait to read your How I Did it entry. 20 months ago
Yep, everyone goes to a school not a shool, and some people take rides on schooners or drink schooners of beer. 20 months ago
Good for you on setting your limits. You shouldn’t have to do more work than what you’re getting paid for. If you can’t accomplish what needs done in those 37 hours, then other people will need step up and do their part. Stand your ground. 20 months ago
A lot of people have problems pronouncing my last name. I can understand how frustrating that is to you with your first name. Best wishes on finding a name that fits who you are. 20 months ago
At the ambulance hall we always joke about how they change things every few years so that they can get more money by printing new books and training material. Still the changes that they push out are based in statistical analysis and experience, so they are helpful changes. Congrats on getting recertified. I agree that everyone should know First Aid and CPR. 20 months ago
Okay, I’m curious. What new foods did you try?
I’ve got some fresh okra that I’m trying to decide how I want to prepare. I’ve never cooked fresh before. 20 months ago
I’ve been trying to figure out just the right words to use to comment to this brilliant entry, but nothing I have thought of come close to recognizing the depths of what this post means to me. So thank you. 20 months ago
After taking yesterday off, I knuckled down and did two sets of 50 each for a total of 100. I was chatting with Gilloulalal about a possible new challenge involving breath hold pushups, so I may not be done with pushups just yet.

But what if there is no toilet where you are at? You can always use a tree.
One of the funniest things on Wilfred this season was using a neighbor’s boot because “no one ever looks in their boot first”.
Oh and you can’t forget a paper bag because you need to do that for that one practical joke involving fire and a door bell. 20 months ago
I would be worried that the cookies wouldn’t cook evenly, but this definitely looks like a fun if fattening cookie to try to make sometime. 20 months ago
Owning a house does bring its own headaches. My bedroom ceiling fan has started making noises, so I think I’m going to have to replace it. I also need to run the wires for the antenna. Of course I still have unpacking to do too.
The reversed wires in the outlets are definitely a concern. I’m glad I had all my electrical system checked and the junction box upgraded right after I bought the house.
Here’s a prod to do one of your lesser fun projects. 20 months ago
Back when I was working on losing weight, I went to extremes of cutting out all starches and processed sugars. I was able to lose the weight but it wasn’t a diet that I could stick to forever. Now when I feel like having an ice cream, I’ll go ahead and do it, but I limit the portion size. Like Bob notes, by making something taboo, you’re more likely to struggle with it. Moderation is the key.
Best wishes. 20 months ago
This is a fun goal. I look forward to watching you stash away a dollar here and a dollar there until you have all that you need to get what you want. 20 months ago
And to think it’s just been over a year since I first introduced you to strolling through cemetery gates. I’m glad that you found the peace and tranquility there that continued throughout your day, as well as getting the exercise you sought.
Hugs and much love to you, always. 20 months ago
I’m glad to see this negative reinforcement is making you realize how often you were doing it. If you wrist gets too sore, you could switch the rubber band over to the other wrist for a while. You’re making great progress so far. I know you can do this. 20 months ago
Are you holding onto it for sentimental reasons or in the event that you might actually need it in the future? You’ve started down a new path in your life, and I say you should embrace it. You could always send it to a friend who could use it, and then if you needed to borrow it back, you could. 20 months ago
I was very impressed with the vocals in your link. I was able to find the artist’s own page but I don’t think she has anything available for purchase at this time. At least I couldn’t find anything. 20 months ago
I can definitely understand not doing pushups while your back hurts. I know they sucked when my shoulder hurt. I hope you feel better soon. Is this a result of the new job? 20 months ago
I can’t breathe today, and if I wanted to do breath hold pushups that would be a benefit, but I didn’t have a full night’s sleep and spent most of the morning dealing with a traffic accident fatality so instead of gasping my way through pushups, I’m going to bed.

You’re almost on your way to Hong Kong, and I wanted to wish you a safe journey. I’m looking forward to reading all about your trip. 20 months ago
I’m glad to see that you have recognized that you are sending out signals that indicate you don’t want to do things when you really do want to do things. Now that you’ve recognized it, you’ll need to invest in changing that. It’s okay to still make a face and crib, but try not to do it as much. I have faith in you and know you can do this. 20 months ago
All this time I took my friend’s word for it that it was a Frank Lloyd Wright house, but upon investigation I found out that it was actually built by Walter J. Hall who went on to build Fallingwater with Frank Lloyd Wright. You can find out more about Lynn Hall here and its connection to Fallingwater. 20 months ago
I just met Amara a couple months ago when I saw that she was on a quest to reach a certain number of cheers. I remember the early days of 43Things when a whole slew of us were working on reaching certain cheer levels and we’d have “cheer wars” to help each other out. Back then you could only cheer goals, and later entries. Now that you can cheer comments it’s a lot easier than back in the start of the site. Anyway, here are my birthday wishes for Amara for the coming year:
May you make the time to walk throughout your day so that you can achieve your 10,000 steps a day. May you make plans to visit at least one new state this year on your quest to reach all 50. And may you make the right contacts and have the right skills at the right time in order to get the perfect job. 20 months ago
Today is Mindy’s birthday and I’d adopted this goal before Amara created the other birthday goal, so Mindy’s birthday greetings will be here while Amara’s will be in the other goal. Some of you know that Mindy is actually a former 43er who has come back with a new account. I’m really glad because I’ve always liked and respected her, and it’s always so sad when people leave and don’t return. So in case I haven’t said it lately Mindy, I’m glad you’re here. Here are my wishes for you for the coming year:
May you remember to wear your glasses even when you don’t think you need to wear them (but probably not in the shower because they get all speckled with water and aren’t much use there anyway). May you remember your dreams in the morning when you wake up so that you can share them with us. И, возможно, вы будете владеть вашего знания русского языка, чтобы читать газету. 20 months ago
I just got a flyer in the mail about a new gym opening up not far from my house. I could actually take the running trail and get to it. It’s open 24 hours too, so I just might join it. Maybe we should make a pact that we’ll both go to the gyms we’re joining. 20 months ago
I was at the gym today and did my pushups with sets of crunches though I did more crunches per set than I did pushups, and I did one extra set of crunches. Pushup sets were 25, with four of them completed for a total of 100.

I have faith in your ability to keep from reverting to old habits when faced with stress or time crunches. You’ve proven yourself time and time again, and this fall will be no different. 20 months ago
