With about three weeks to race day, i have to hope that my training so far is going to be enough. I’ve been running 2-3 times a week with my friend. Yesterday, we completed our longest run yet: 16km. It’s 5km short of the race distance, and we had a very hard time completing it near the end, as we ran out of water and the blazing sun was almost too much to bare. But we managed, and we finished our run. We’ll be going for 18k next week. Hopefully race day will be glorious and we’ll finish strong. 2 weeks ago

We got a call from our lawyer this morning stating that the builder would be closing the deal on March 28th! We also got our bank to offer us a better mortgage rate – from 3.09 down to 2.89 fixed over 5 years; which is a 2,000$ savings over 5 years. Yay! I can’t wait to sign my name on the dotted line and finally feel like I own my place :-) 2 months ago

it’s all about the small wins. Need to be on the lookout for the next achievement and be grateful for little victories that make big victories possible. 3 months ago

I started training for this event at last. With race day only 3 months away, I need to start upping my mileage and avoid injury. I easily completed 5.7km on Wednesday while running with my friend and it felt really good. It showed that my healthier eating and the at home workouts had maintained my heart health and stamina. I went out for a shorter run with her yesterday and we completed a shorter run (3.6km) but at a much faster pace. I’m glad my body is responding and so long as I can build regular runs into my schedule, I think I can make it through the half with dignity this time. 3 months ago

I miss it a lot sometimes, but it feels good not to have my time sucked away with this irrational desire to read all of my newsfeed and see what the latest meme is. Such a waste of time. At least now I feel my in control of myself and my attention. I just need to find a more meaningful way to spend it, and that’s been the most challenging part of all. At least I restarted my study of Spannish! 3 months ago

We found a place we really liked and jumped on it right away. It’s ecologically friendly, energy efficient, in growing community and close to transit and shopping and parks. We’re really excited about the new place and were able to move in 3 weeks after finding it. But because it is a new construction, the land registration paperwork has not yet gone through with the city, so while I’m occupying the condo, I’m paying occupancy fees but not yet my mortgage. They expect the paperwork to go through by the end of March. Once that’s done, I shall consider this goal complete! 3 months ago

I personally would highly recommend getting Rosetta Stone, it’s a great softwear that just drills the language into your head. It’s not cheap, so if it’s out of your pricerange, you may consider getting it from somewhere else. I used to work at a municipal library and so you might consider going to your local or university library and borrowing it if they have it on hand (and if they don’t, you may want to look into free interlibrary loans!).
It that’s not an option, there are plenty of resources online that are free to use. You can use www.livemocha.com or check out all of the free open source options here: http://www.openculture.com/free_spanish_lessons
Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress! 3 months ago

I moved rosetta stone from my pc to my laptop on sunday and started my lessons again. Now that i’m not restricted to studying in the den, i’m more likely to keep practicing. In any event, i’ve nearly completed the beginer level. Yay! 3 months ago

This has been a crazy year, financially. Not only did we anniunce our wedding but we also managed to pull out all the stops and bought a condo in the blink of an eye! Our debt had exploded but it actually makes financial sense for us. Guven how expensive rent was, buying out own place make sense because of the forced savings—once we’re done with out place i can sell and recover some of that money. When i’m done renting, i have nothing to show for it. So we bought! I like out new place but we still need to furnish it, so it doesn’t look like our debt will disappear anytime soon. That being said, my student loan is dropping steadily, and i am now just under 30k in the whole for that. Slowly, but surely, we’ll make this work 4 months ago

But my hair (much of it) remains. I declare this a complete for my goal, but a fail in the result. Given that these packages aren’t cheap, i’m not sure i’m ready to re-commit to the whole process. We’ll see how i feel in a coule of months. 7 months ago

I actually signed up for two courses, but i suppose i wasnt as committed and disciplined and required because i quickly fell behind on the readinds and quizzes, and now there’s no way i’m going to cram for these inconsequential classes. Besides, they werent the best i’d ever taken. I’ll try again in a couple of weeks, hopefully i can find something better suited to my needs 7 months ago
