So five years later, we are doing better. We don’t live together but she lives like a block away. And I’m okay with it. I tell her personal things that I won’t even tell my partner of 3 years. We count on each other.

There is still a rift there and it deals with all things financial. I feel like this wont really be complete until we get past what I owe her.

but so much progress has been made!

I was so tired of spending countless hours on facebook virtually looking at nothing. it helped when my computer broke and i didn’t have it to look at. then when i got an iphone, i only check my notifications, and it’s a little difficult to browse for hours on facebook. I have a new computer now and I never really take too much time on facebook, so I’d have to say that this goal is complete!

The year after I graduated college, I had an internship at Susquehanna University. My internship was about producing Safe Zone workshops for faculty, staff, and students as well as hosting them. These safe zone trainings are usually geared around theories and definitions, but I really went to a different, more approachable direction. It was more about situations you may come across in regards to your position on campus and how to deal with them. It was about directing people to the right area of campus for help if you couldn’t do it on your own. It was not about being an expert or about knowing all the terms and definitions. We did everywhere from financial aid to housekeeping and maintenance to student leaders to greek life to the admissions office. It was quite an impact that year, and I think it brought people over some hurdles. Naturally there are still some people that I didn’t get across, but they respected me enough to listen. And I think I made it one step closer to this goal last year because of these trainings.
