Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

zumbafanNever Mine

She was never really mine
not mine to lose at all
So I shouldn’t have to mind
tearing down the walls

I’ve already laid to rest
a long, long time ago
She utterly failed the test
she’s the one who let go

Who decided it was best
for a child to stand the test
Of a life all alone
all alone, on my own

And yet, a phone call away
but reaching out would have
revealed all her scars

Why not wait
until too late
Until I’ve moved on
built a life without help

I don’t need her now
So I can’t lose her
because I never really had her 14 months ago

zumbafanNever Watch This Movie

Spring Breakers

OH WOW…this movie has a really great cast but it is just soft porn disguised as a pop culture movie. Do not watch with your grandparents, lol! 14 months ago

Just finished reading my 22nd book…I gotta get a move on here to reach 50 by 2014.

Wings of Glass by Gina Holmes was free on Kindle and absolutely powerful. Sends such a great message to women who put up with abuse emotional, physical or otherwise. I could not put this book down and suggest it to anyone who isn’t sensitive the subject. 14 months ago

zumbafanYou Resist

I’m sorry that you feel this way
that you need to have space
I’m sorry that I adore you
and you feel it is a waste

I’m sorry that I dared to trust
the unsaid words
that relationships lust

Your life needs more than I can give
I tried to love you but you resist

I’m sorry that I’m just
not enough
and you need to bail
when things get rough

And most of all
I can’t deny
that I hate the way you make me cry
cry..when you don’t come home
when you refuse to pick up the phone
And do things that I don’t condone
like your need to feel as if
you have to roam
And when I’m simply all alone
having my bareness shown

Your life needs more than I can give
I tried to love you but you resist

I’m sorry I was there
to cushion your fall
instead of just being
you one and all

I’m sorry I let you
embed yourself in my life
only to be cut away
with a jagged edged knife

Cutting so deep
five years I can’t keep
only able to weep
for the life we may have
been able to reap
if only you could keep
a single promise
or take that leap

Your life needs more than I can give
I tried to love you but you resist :-( 14 months ago

zumbafanMy heart <3

Goodbye my heart
Blood woven dart
Left alone in a world unknown
Inclined to depart
Unfearful start
Untainted throne
Her bareness shown
My heart no more
Weary and sore
Shielding my eyes
From her painted face
Deaths stagnant pace
Denying the grace
To remain unlaced
An ugly cry
Of reasons why
My heart had to die
Her memory remains
Burnt in my brain
Her lifeless glow
An unjustified blow
That no one could know
This tragic depart
Of my cherished
Heart 17 months ago

zumbafan16 and counting...

Just finished my 16th book this new year and thought I would share with everyone. Abandon by Blake Crouch is a great read. It jumps back and forth from present day to 1893 and reveals the evils of greed are the same even over 100’s of years. 19 months ago

zumbafanBlow Out The Flame

Flickering light
burning bright
yet fluttering in the wind

Welcoming doors
cleansing my sores
relinquish all I’ve sinned

Darkening night
seizing my sight
denying a glimpse
of the moon

Neverending game
blow out the flame
for I am coming soon. 19 months ago

What is it to feel?
to let down your guard…
Acceptance of what’s real
immitations to discard

Requirements of change
farewell to all you know
Expanding ones range
to the moment of letting go

No longer lethargic reactions
complacent glances or stares
Revealing the slightest fraction
of a heart that’s cold and bare

Indifferent towards the pain
denying potential emotion
Always remain constrained
by the flood of this ocean. 2 years ago
