It turns out that paperfaerie, one of my bestest bestest friends in all the world, is related to the greatest pirate of all time! Hurrah! I love pirate blood! I have shared a bed with pirate blood! Now I just need to find someone related to Dick Turpin and befriend them and I’ve got all bases covered.

..with the aid of this, which is probably one of the best presents anyone has ever brought back for me off holiday, courtesy of my dear friend Maxsquatch, who brought it back from Disneyland, of all places. It’s one of those charity wristbands but instead of proclaiming my support for the Seaview Home for Retired Donkeys, it states proudly and firmly that I love pirates. And I’m never taking it off!

I still do, and I always will love pirates and highwaymen, so I may as well tick this off and clear a space. Loving pirates and highwaymen is in my genetic makeup, I couldn’t not do it if I tried. I still haven’t loved one in the fullest sense of the word (though I’ve certainly been involved with some ruffians in my time) but hope springs eternal.

Pirates and highwaymen bare, oh, my!
Mm, something about them. I prefer highwaymen, myself – I think it’s something to do with the masks. My flat/teammate Lucyann is a pirate lass, which is handy for eliminating squabbles when we happen upon bands of raggle-taggle 17th-century bad boys. Which happens a lot, as you can imagine.
Every girl loves pirates, highwaymen, or both. Which do you like?
