My plan to expand my friendship circle is slowly working. I invited a newish friend over to watch the Vice Presidential debates last night to piss and moan and laugh about it. I cooked something simple, we enjoyed and it was good.

Intentional planning... 1 year ago

...is working out. I intentionally planned ahead to go to a Celtic Festival we have here, I invited an old friend and her friend to come along two months ago. They said yes and the wheels are in motion. My next goal is to have an “End of Summer” Bon Fire and invite people over potluck style. I’ll put on a pot of chili and they can help me do the rest.

My youngest daughter invited some friend for the 4th 1 year ago

SHe’s naturally good at making friends. Then my older daughter invited some people, so I guess we’re having a party. We will trapse to the park for fireworks en masse. Sounds kind of fun. I’m rolling with it.

The day after my boyfriend and I broke up... 2 years ago

I went to a coffee shop/bookshop with my daughter. I was pretty blue. I found all these great cards. (Avoided the “love” area). I bought a bunch and wrote gratitude notes to all my girlfriends. Some from just casual aquaintance some closer. No one gets good, fun, old fashioned hand written mail anymore. It seems that they really liked it.

Anyone else out there.... 2 years ago

...find it can be hard to make friends? When I was 20 something…no problem. Now everyone is so entrenched in their lives, their schedules. They all have spouses…that’s my problem…I’m single in MarriedLand.

Anyway, I’ve decided to feed people. Being invited to someone’s house is always a honor to me. Even if it’s simple. I’m going to try have more people over for dinner.
