I’m considering making a stand at the Mass Action at the 2008 UK Climate Camp. There will be 8 Climate Camps in total around the world that week! I dont agree with building more coal fired power stations, so it seems a good thing to do. i’m just a little scared of the police’s reaction to a peaceful protest – now the ‘terrorism’ laws have changed to include anything they view as subversive or scary!
humm, lots of people waving banners outside a power station – very scary?

we’ve a LOT of splendid poppies in the front garden. through birds and wind they are slowly spreading all down the terrace! whilst tidying up i decided to give them a hand a brighten the waste land near the BT exchange and went and scattered their seeds all over. and around the housing signs at the new development. yeah, most wont come up and the council may change it’s mowing routine, but nature does persevere.
as i was finishing up, by fella was dropped off by his work colleague, who obviously thought i was barmy!

i’m all for changing the world, so have made this a goal as a gentle reminder and somewhere to record progress. other goals include this in some ways, as do my political and spiritual philosophies.
i could backtrack and list the things i’ve done to date, but that wouldn’t actually achieve anything new, would it?
Still, i’d like to record a coupple of things to get me started:
- do many unpaid hours helping the older members of our community – artistically and socially
- hand wrote and draw a programme for the local Green Festival two years ago even though it was super stressful.
- have recently done 2 mornings of environmental work at the local park – weeding & planting around the toilet block and the education hut
- the other month i gave several hours to earth moving at a woodland to build a bank to keep the dirt bikes out – moving ferns and teaching a child about mama earth in the process.
- i’ve choosen a green electic provider
- i almost always walk to work and only use the car midfully
- cloth bags, recycle household cans, tins, glass, paper
- wear charity shop clothes wherever possible – recycling and helping the charity and my purse!
