Why didn't i clock this sooner! 4 years ago

I was having a little practice in the shower and tried changing my bird like whistle to more of a blow, it’s not got much volume but I’m sure it’s close to the cricket sound! I do this by vibrating the back of my tongue like i’m rolling an “R”. I guess you guy’s in the team are from the states, so i don’t know if you have much cause to roll your r’s but if you know anybody from Wales they will know what i mean, and if you already do and i am being a patronising brit, then my apologies!!! Happy cricketing!!

I'll soon be posting a recording... 4 years ago

My cricket sound changes daily. I’m goint to try to take several recordings and then choose some of the best.
I hope this works.

I'm evolving 4 years ago

Every time I look at this goal…I try it. And I’m getting better each time. It’s as if I am the prehistoric fish that really wants to get across the mud flats a little faster and I just need these fins to be a little more leg-like.
My cricket is straining to be ever more crickety. I’m getting good. volume is still my biggest obstacle.

I see that other have hopped on board. Any luck?

well this sounds fun 4 years ago

I’ve been doing a kind of bird like whistle since i can remember and making the noise of a cricket sounds great! I just got home after an awful night out and am a little stoned but i seem to have made a little progress in the last half hour. This is my first ntry – i never knew so many people could help with personal goals – feeling really positive!!!!!!

Best ever attempt! 4 years ago

It was loud! It sounded real. For a moment I thought there was a cricket near me but NO it was ME!!

Interestin note: I noticed that it occured during an odd combination of dry [outside] and wet [inside] lips.
Sharp and short inhaling increased the volume.

I’m happy to say the cricket is on the way.

So very close!! 4 years ago

I’m doing it now but it takes a second to ramp up to the actual cricket sound. Theres a brief sucking sound at first followed by a soft gurgling and then CRICKET!
Still very quiet but ocasionally pretty loud. In a quiet room it could definitely be heard.

breakthrough! 4 years ago

I’m not all the way there yet but I made the perfect cricket sound and it was also loud!
It was only a couple of chirps but it reminded me of blowing my first bubble gum bubble, or whistling for the first time.

I know I’m going to have this down in the next month or so. Cool. Can’t wait to use it in a boring room.

I was wondering how long before I received a cheer! 4 years ago

Thanks Jill. I knew that somebody out there would appreciate such a worthy goal. You will be happy to know that I am getting very close. Today actually I made the perfect cricket sound but it was too quiet to hear in a large room. I know I’m going to nail this one.

Now I’m wondering how long before somebody joins me. I can’t be the only person that wants to be able to do this…...can I?

My brother can do this.... 4 years ago

It comes in very handy in a crowded room and they ask “any questions?” chirpchirp chirpchirp.
The technique involves quietly and softly whistling while inhaling and allowing saliva to flutter past your lips.
I SWEAR you would think you heard a real cricket if you heard my brother.
I’m getting close but I’m not there yet.
