Lacy 1 month ago

Such a sweet, sweet horse. I have fallen completely in love with her. All horses are magical, simply creatures of wonder to me. I was born with that gene but there is something so sweet and giving about Lacy that is truly special. When we are close, she sniffs and nuzzles me, almost like a dog, and I can feel her trying to breathe me in. This is how horses express love, I am sure of it.

As with Moon, it takes me several tries to get away when it is time to leave her at the barn. Only another horse person would understand this. But she is one of the beings who make me happy.

breathing in salt air 1 month ago

and tasting the salt on my lips….I’ll always be an island girl at heart.

I’m in Prince Frederick, Maryland for a biz meeting. I didn’t realize how close I would be the the water until I saw the touristy brochures at the front desk of the hotel in which I am staying. I immediately took myself to Soloman’s Island and spent a wonderful hour walking up and down the pier. I also had dinner at a seafood restaurant on the pier. To this list, I’d add that I am grateful for a job that allows me to travel, however, there are times like today when I really wish H were with me. I’ve never stopped myself from seeing or experiencing anything on a business trip, partly because he has seen so much more of life than me and has probably already done it! However, shared joys are always sweeter….

Gracie's owner 1 month ago

I met Gracie’s owner for the first time today. I had heard about her but had never met her. Grace is an 8 year old Appendix Quarterhorse whom I had ridden for my first dressage lesson in Colorado. She is very very gentle. My dressage instructor told me that a 70 year old woman owned her. I asked her if she ever rode her and she said yes, the woman comes out regularly.

Well, today I met her and I cannot recall many happier or more content sites as that 70 year YOUNG woman with her horse, who clearly just adored her. She said she had waited all her life to have a horse and finally did it a year ago. She knew Gracie was meant to be hers within five minutes of riding her. After I left, that encounter stayed in my head for quite some time. I am meeting all kinds of older women these days who are truly inspirational.

Moon 1 month ago

again…. I went out to see him today and just seeing him in his pasture stopped my breath. He is just breathtaking. There is nothing like an Arabian horse in terms of beauty and grace.
