#10 The Choice 2 weeks ago

I love Nicholas Sparks’ books. I am becoming an avid reader and rarely am moved to tears by a male author, but find I am always reaching for the tissues when I read a N.S. book. He writes the sort of tear-jerking love stories I love, and he writes them with a great deal of passion and emotion, creating wonderful characters that feel so real.

This plot centers around two people who meet and fall in love and the choices and promises they make to each other during their relationship.

At thirty-two, Travis Parker is a confirmed bachelor. All three of his best friends are married with kids, and their wives have fixed him up with every single woman they encounter, no matter how much he wished they wouldn’t. Why would he want to get married? He has it all—a great job, a full life and a beautiful house in a small town in North Carolina with a gorgeous river view,a boat and a motorcycle.

Nothing is missing in his life, or so he thinks until Gabby Holland moves in next door. The beautiful redhead, though standoffish and downright rude at first, intrigues him from the very beginning, and he doesn’t let a small detail like her boyfriend stand in the way of getting to know her better.

I don’t want to tell too much (but this seemingly simple (at first) love story is heart wrenching and memorable… My breath caught in my chest as I read the epilogue. I loved it. This love story is wonderful!

#9 The Lucky One 3 weeks ago

The main character in The Lucky One is ex-Marine, Logan Thibault. Logan has served three tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine and believes his survival is due to a lucky picture he found of an unknown woman.

On his first tour deployed in Iraq, he found a photo that help brought him through that tour and two more. He is obsessed with the picture of the girl standing by the ferris wheel and sets out to find her.

Logan Thibault is an easy-going and charming man who walks cross-country accompanied by Zeus (his dog) to find the mystery woman in the picture. Once he arrives in North Carolina, he takes a job at a dog training facility where he meets Nana, the elderly owner of the facility, Elizabeth (‘Beth’), her granddaughter and her young son, Ben. Elizabeth, as he discovers is the woman in his lucky picture.

After reading this book, you can’t help but wonder, who is the lucky one in the story? In my opinion, there are several lucky ones in this story. It’s amazing how a story simply based on a photograph can unfold into such a beautiful work of fiction. If you are a Nicholas Sparks fan, you seriously won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. It has suspense, romance, and anything else you can imagine. The end of The Guardian is a real cliff hanger. I couldn’t but the book down. I thought that it was absolutely fantastic; I would mainly recommend this book to women, who have already read any of Nicholas Sparks’s books or prefer romance novels, as I do. Sparks is an amazing writer and all of his books are so amazing! I always feel like I am there in the story with the extremely well developed characters. Sooo, if you enjoy feeling involved in the story, Nicholas will put you in the story as you read it!

I have never read a book that actually made me feel almost every emotion. I cried, laughed, and just couldn’t put it down because I had to find out what happened next. I just can’t explain it into words, but I just LOVE this book. I have read it several of Spark’s novels and I believe this is one of the best so far. It surprised me with the added bonus of suspense with his typical romance.

#7: Nights in Rodanthe 2 months ago

Nights in Rodanthe

I really enjoyed it. I am a SAP for romance so NIGHTS IN RODANTHE was just my cup of tea. Better, break out the Kleenex because this one’s a tear-jerker. I can’t wait for the soon to be released movie.

Adrienne Willis takes care of a friend’s inn in Rodanthe, North Carolina just after her touch with heartache. Her husband has just left her for a younger woman and she leaves for a short time to recollect herself and do her friend Jean, who is gone to attend a wedding, a favor. Once at the inn she breaks down and then meets Dr. Paul Flanner, who is the only guest this time of year at the inn, and the two become instantly attracted to each other. Paul is a 54 year old surgeon, divorced, with one son who detests him. Just recently retired after selling his established practice, he is now planning to move to Ecuador to serve as a missionary doctor along side of his son.

This is the story Adrienne’s tells to her daughter Amanda, who recently lost her husband Brent from testicular cancer. Amanda is caring for her two sons AND having great difficulty trying to get over her husband’s death at the same time, and it is very hard to accept the fact that he was really dead.

Adrienne tries to help Amanda through this situation by telling her a story about when she was forty-five of her and Paul’s days in Rodanthe and it all comes back- her youth, feeling desirable, worthy of being loved, delayed happiness and the feeling that is captured in the air when love is felt within the heart.

Adrienne and Paul both realize that they have been searching for each other for all of their lives and were finally drawn together in Rodanthe by fate. They part with great pain as friends and lovers, vowing to correspond since she is unable to leave her children and move to Ecuador. They decide to stay in touch my mail until he would return in a year.

Then tragedy strikes… NIGHTS IN RODANTHE will certainly touch your heart and warm your soul. This is a story that I will ALWAYS remember. It gave me the chills and then mad me cry for all the bitter sweet moments where love was there AND then gone. A tender story of love, family and the way fate plays a huge part in the entire scheme of life and our own expectations.

#6: The Wedding 2 months ago

This book is totally wonderful. Nicholas Sparks is an excellent writer, and this is one of his best books.

I totally loved this sequel to The Notebook … maybe loved it even more! Whether or not you have read The Notebook will have no impact on your enjoyment of this book.

This story picks up with the children of Allie and Noah. The widow Noah continues to reside in Creekside Extended Care Facility. This is the story of Noah’s daughter Jane and her husband North Carolina attorney Wilson. He has been married to Jane for thirty years. Although Wilson’s love had continued to grow over the years, He manages to forget their 29th anniversary and thats just the way their marriage has been going lately… he’s been neglecting Jane and the family for years. Jane feels extremely abandoned, and has even begun to fall out of love with Wilson. Wilson realizes this is his fault, because he has concentrated on his job over the years, and in addition, has trouble communicating his feelings. Wilson embarks upon a year long program to win back the love of his wife.

The road to the conclusion is unexpected, and very tender. All husbands could take a lesson from Wilson as he tries to find a way to make Jane fall in love with him all over again.

I highly recommend this wonderful book. It’s a book you’ll want to read again and again. It will leave you feeling really good, so it’s great when life isn’t as perfect as you’d like.

Although almost all of Nicholas Sparks’ books are magnificent, this one is really special, and very romantic. Be prepared to shed a few tears along the way to inspiring finale.

#5 At First Sight 2 months ago

I am addicted to all of Nicholas Sparks’ books; this was the fifth one I had read. They are just so totally tender and romantic I can sit for hours, reading one of his books. I absolutely love them.

He brings back two characters from his beloved bestseller, True Believer, in this continuing saga of extraordinary love, with many surprising twists, and a diverse range of interesting characters, I especially love Lexie’s character!

There are few things Jeremy Marsh was sure he’d never do: leave New York City; AND never give his heart away again after barely surviving one failed marriage; and most of all, never become a father. Now, Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. However, just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, an unsettling and mysterious email message re-opens old wounds and sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of this young couple’s planned marriage.

This was a fantastic book. It was very well written, touching and especially bittersweet. Sparks is a true literary genius, if you have not read him (yet), be sure to pick up True Believer first, this is the sequel. The ending is a big surprise and leaves the reader a bit shocked.

#4: True Believer 2 months ago

OMG, this is another extraordinary love story! Is Love at First Sight possible? I had the same teary eyes and lingering Goosebumps that I also had when I first saw “The Notebook” movie the first time, as I finished this masterpiece.

Some reviews that I read on this work seemed to indicate this Nicholas Spark’s novel was simply mediocre, and not up to his superior standards. I could not disagree more; the “True Believer” is among his best. I liked this book very much, found it very believable, and the characters well-defined and realistic. Keep in mind I have only read three of his works before this work (“Message in a Bottle”, “The Notebook”, and “Dear John”).

From when Lexie Darnell, the Boone Creek, North Carolina head librarian met Jeremy Marsh, a successful 37-year-old Manhattan science journalist from New York to the very, very end of the book, it was among the most tender love stories I have read. Both Lexie and Jeremy had had other loves in their lives, but they did not work out. Therefore, as the story began, both were looking for their soul mate, although they were very content with their respective current lives. I will not give the end away, considering some Sparks novels do not turn out the way the reader is hoping.

This beautiful romance keeps you turning the pages, curious to see what will happen next. I strongly recommend this fabulous book to anybody who enjoys a great love story inside a mystery wrapper. I would also recommend reading the sequel, At First Sight, as I am beginning today.

Like three of his other novels, I think that this would also make a great movie.

#3: Dear John 3 months ago

Nobody writes romance novel better than Nicholas Sparks. His descriptions of people falling in love are like no others. In this book, he chronicles the love affair of John Tyree, a Soldier on leave from the Army, and Savannah Curtis, a college girl who is building Habitat houses as a summer volunteer. While they are together during John’s leave from the Army their romance sizzles, but eventually time, distance, and world events (September 11th) make their relationship more difficult. This book is all about commitment, and learning to love in a selfless way. For those who are currently in a long distance romance, this novel may not be a good choice. However, for those who know unconditional love, there may not be a better choice.

#2: The Notebook 3 months ago

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK…..YOU WILL LOVE IT Nicholas Sparks has written a moving and heart-felt story about two young people whose love covers a lifetime. Be forewarned, if you don’t have a lot of time and a full box of tissues, don’t start because once you do, you won’t stop. This book was so wonderful. To be loved like Allie was would be absolutely wonderful. With so much out there to read, it was such a pleasure to read something that is so “real life” and truly wonderful. I cried much through-out the book.

It begins with Allie, young debutant from the city who has come with her parents to their summer home. Soon, she meets Noah, a local boy who lives near Allie’s parents’ house and works at the local lumber mill. After a while, the two begin going steady and they develop very deep feelings for each other. However, Allie’s mother informs her that the family will be leaving to go back to their regular home. Allie is crushed by the news, and she sadly goes to tell Noah. A fight ensues between the two, and both say things they really don’t mean. Allie enrolls in college, and Noah enlists in the Army and serves in Europe.

After the war, Noah returns home and buys a local plantation home that is very run-down. But he restores it to immaculate condition over time. The story of the house soon reaches the local press, and Noah’s handy work appears on the front page of many papers. Meanwhile, Allie served as a volunteer nurse during the war. She met a young officer named Lon, who she’s fallen madly in love with. However, she sees the story of Noah’s house and she realizes that she must see it for herself. Soon, she’s back with Noah, and all of the earlier feelings they shared come rolling back like a tidal wave. Now, Allie must choose between Noah, her first love, and Lon, the successful lawyer and the man that cares very deeply for her now. She agonizes over her decision, but in the end, she makes the decision that she believes is best for her. Who will she choose?

I found this book a very fast read. This is my second Nicholas Sparks book, and as with MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, I also enjoyed THE NOTEBOOK very much. Both were tear jerkers. I really can’t say which book I enjoyed better, but I intend to read ALL his other books. This book is a definite MUST READ for all those who love a good romance, as I do.

#1: Message in a Bottle 3 months ago

Message in a Bottle deeply touched my heart and brought many tears to my eyes. I was unable to stop reading it once I started. Taken through so many depths of emotion, I was breathless, excited, mystified and saddened . As I read, I felt an intense connection with the characters’ feelings, especially Theresa who finds a beautiful and oh so tender love letter inside of a bottle and then Garret the man who wrote it and put into the sea. I was able to empathize with everyone of them. It made me believe in true eternal love again. That everything happen for a reason. I will never forget this novel. It’s the best romance novel I’ve ever read. Nicholas Sparks is a man who knows exactly how to write in order to touch a true romantics’ heart. To me that’s an extraordinary writer with a true gift..It was truly amazing!!!!
