DO 7 months ago

I have fallen off course. I am re-committing myself to this goal. My life won’t change into what I want it to be unless I DO.

I have had some moments where I lost sight of this goal but I am back on track. I have seen the quality of my life improving each time I “DO” something instead of just thinking about it or putting it off until later.

my word 8 months ago

was helping me a lot during the last two weeks. I had to give this big presentation in front of a lot of experts of my project. When I thought about the presentation during the preparation of the talk – it made me feeling sick. In these moments my word “fearless” helped me a lot to keep calm =) and a lot of valerian worked too, of course =) I gave the presentation last week and everything went very well. I got praised from some people and made some very helpful, friendly contacts. So I can say, it was totally worth it to be fearless =)

During the last weeks... 9 months ago

I didn’t think about my word (Fearless), because I was in vacation and everything was going well. Puh – but now I have to use my word again to encourage myself. In only two weeks I have to give a presentation instead of my prof in front of all the experts on my research field. And of course I am affraid. I have the give the talk in English, of course and I’m scared that I don’t find the right words. And what can I do when they don’t like my presentation? I’m representing not only project, I’ll represent my boss. huiihui. I really have respect about this. To not flip out about it I use my word again (and of course some valerian pills=) wish me luck =)

Happiness Workshop 9 months ago

A friend invited me to go to an Indian festival last weekend. Apart from looking forward to having Indian for lunch, I didn’t have any expectations of the day. I ended up having a great time watching the Indian dancing and colour throwing festivities. I also wandered into a tent and listened in on a Happiness workshop. Topics discussed were the importance of visualisation, gratitude, having a positive self concept, language and labels and most importantly, the lesson that everything in life is a choice, an opportunity.
How apt! The word opportunity is never to far from my thoughts, being my one word resolution for 2009. I love this word, it has served me so well this year so far :)

to continue to “shed” after my weekend away. I’ve shed some lbs, still more to go but doing well. Now I really want to focus on some physical clutter that is really emotionally draining me.

Need to re-focus on success 10 months ago

I’ve put in so much hard work in the last 6 months – first looking for a job, then driving, then writing – that I have run out of steam. I really feel as if I need a break, to clear my head and start again.

The mother-in-law is coming to stay this weekend so I’m going to take an opportunity to have some fun (yeah – sounds wierd, but she’s a real character). Then back to the plan on Monday.

I am not in control…as much as I would like to control….as much as I can prepare….I am still not in control. Things happen as a result of other things that happen. Some things (my actions and my thoughts) I can influence. Some things (other people’s actions and thoughts) I can try to influence. But I am not in control.

Haven't checked in on this goal in a while 10 months ago

I am still not going as well as I would have liked but I still am doing something. I give myself credit for starting over each and every time instead of throwing in the towel and giving up when I fail. I am currently researching ways that others have successfully overcome procrastination. I have missed out on a lot of opportunities and I don’t want to miss out on any more.
