Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Well begun! Week 1 Day 1

Yesterday I made plans.

Today I did them.

Yay me!

Having a specific goal makes all the difference!

Also, I was able to talk my children into showing their support by doing these baby-easy exercises with their mom. They kindof enjoyed being able to whoop my ass on the final round, where you “do as many as you can”. I would do about ten. They would do about 30. HA!

Still, the energy in the room was very positive. After waking up with a headache this morning, I took medicine, started laundry, vacuumed, got the kids doing chores too like taking out garbage and cleaning the kitchen. It isn’t so cold or rainy today either.

The energy today is very very good. I think I’ll really enjoy doing some laps around the apartments on the bike today.

Starting at the easiest level, regardless if I thought I could do more.

Squats
3+4+3+3+10=23

Crunches
3+3+3+4+10=23

Pushups (wall)
2+3+2+2+20=29

I think I can graduate up to the counter for push ups, so my reps are more in line with the exertion expected.

bike training

I need to train my muscles so I can improve my cycling. Especially on cold miserable days I need something I can do indoors.

I’m re-opening this goal, and starting at the very baby beginning.

horizontal file cabinet push ups today.

I’m feeling anxious this afternoon. I suspect it will get me up out of my chair more than usual. I’m trying to do the push ups to quell my anxiety.

Trying to take this challenge to work

I did nine push ups on the horizontal file cabinet that is about as tall as the counter in my bathroom, which is wher ei have been doing these push ups at home.

I was thinking that I am pretty desk bound at work, so when I just want to get up and move around, maybe I could do these. Like I used to do the wall push ups at work.

aquatwentythree thankful for 43t

Plugging along

After a epic battle with internal forces (flu) I have begun this challenge in earnest. Done the first two weeks according to the website. I am scared of weeks 5 and 6, there are a crazy amount of sets and reps, but apparently, according to the program, my body will be able to do it when I get there.

On Day 3 of week six it has me doing sets of 26,26,33,33,26,26,22,22, and at least 60 with 45 seconds rest in between. That is at least 264 push ups. No kidding doing 100 non stop will seem easy when I can do that.

Today’s push ups were 16,17,14,14, and at least 20. I ended up doing 24, for a total of 75 in around 12 minutes total time. So it might work.

Squats are proving fairly easy so far too. I am struggling with the sit-ups, they hurt my back. So I am doing lying leg raises instead, works the same muscles without the pain.

Thanksgiving day....

7 bathroom counter pushups. Still every bit as hard as yesterday, but I motivated myself to go to that next number. If I only add one a day I guess it will take over three months to be able to do a hundred. But…... just think! In less than four months I will be able to do 100!

today

i did 6 counter pushups. i am confident i am doing them correctly. they are really hard for me. each and every single one.
but…. I can feel my arms getting stronger. Even if I only add one a day…...... I’ll reach 100 and drop down to the next level.

I’m excited to start on situps. My tummy is a belly and i want it to be a tummy again!
