so I can expect to lose my usual 10 pounds over the next few months without much effort because we tend to eat less and exercise more.
Instead of buying chocolate bars, I’ll buy chocolate protein bars to get the extra protein and vitamins..
Answer: MUCH less time than it takes to lose it!!
So all last week I was down to 147 pounds, eating sensibly until Thursday came along when I went our for a big hamburber, fries, a glass of wine, a caesar, and carrot cake! I weighed myself the next day and I was up 1 pound = 148.
Then Friday, I had some friends over for tea in the afternoon and I served various cheeses, chocolate and almond croissants, chocolate muffins, coconut macaroons and flan…ok, we did overdo it..then in the evening I had a salad and a beer. I weighed myself the next day and I was up another 2 pounds= 150
Last night, Saturday, I went to a party and drank countless glasses of house wine, a couple glasses of grappa, meat kebabs, meatballs, spanakopita, chips, nachos, pistachios, little turkey wraps, baguette and cheese, and chocolate cake…I weighed myself this morning and I weigh 2 pounds more!!!= 152lbs
After all my efforts in the past weeks, I’m back to where I began from only one weekend of debauchery!! Not fair!! Now, I’ll have to starve myself for the next few days just to get back where I was four days ago.
My downfall. After losing 5 pounds with the SBD I had a serious binging these past few days and regained some of the weight back. I’ll just keep the carbs to a minimum for the rest of the week.
1. Eat dinner before class and bring along a protein bar to avoid eating a chocolate bar
2. Take my measurements to keep track of inches lost
3. Reward myself with a movie and small bag of butterless popcorn or a nice piece of clothing
4. Start the South Beach Diet once I’ve finished eating all the fruit and other “to avoid” food still lying around. If it goes well I should reach my goal by Valentine’s!
5. Make phone calls when I feel a sugar craving coming on. If no one is around, bundle up and take a walk.
6. yoga, yoga, yoga…
Ok, just for the month of January, every day I will:
1. do one hour of exercise or total of 30 hrs/month (50%)
2. eat 4-6 servings of veggies and 1-2 fruit everyday (66%)
3. follow a meal plan (33%)
4. do 15-20min. yoga every day (33%)
5. keep a food journal (66%)
6. weigh myself in the morning (100%)
7. have fewer than 3 meals/week out (66%)
8. eat breakfast (99%)
Probability of these things happening is in brackets.
and if all goes well, I expect to lose 5 lbs!!!
I was a vegetarian for a couple of years…I wonder if I can be vegan for a month, like maltiti

I also have some “dangerous” abdominal fat to get rid of. I “should” cut down on carbs and sugars, but then this has nothing to do with going vegan! Her yogurt strategy might work better for me….
