I’m gonna give up the ghost on this goal. I still read the site every week, of course, and others as well. But there’s no real use having it in my 43T goals, I don’t think.

Frankly, I’m not sure why the Left is making such a big deal about Cheney shooting his hunting partner. It was dumb, obviously, but everybody makes dumb mistakes. The fact that they didn’t instantly issue a dozen press releases hardly constitutes a cover-up. I mean it’s not like they called on their “on-the-take” doctor to perform plastic surgery by flashlight in the back room of a run-down bowling alley or something. This is the kind of thing that’s best suited to late-night talk shows (David Letterman was especially funny on it, I thought), but it really just distracts from more significant discussion otherwise.

So I’m just going to ignore all the posts about that. The rest of the stuff this week was pretty good. I always love it when they dig on Ann Coulter. She’s an easy target, sure, but it’s still fun to watch. The clip from Independence Day on Fox News, though, was my absolute favorite. How can people watch that kind of nonsense and think that it’s news? Yeesh.

Favorite quote from this week, w/r/t Coretta Scott King’s funeral (and the right’s horror that anyone would dare say anything about her left-leaning political life in front of a right-wing president):

. . . if there were bad manners on display, I’d suggest that they belonged to George W. Bush, who apparently expected a standing ovation at the memorial of someone who was deeply opposed to everything he stands for. Perhaps he should stick to his pre-screened audiences in future.
Also liked this one, regarding George Deutsch:
So, to recap, a 24-year-old with no college degree and a penchant for intelligent design was until very recently employed by the Bush administration to make sure that information which might upset the radical right could not be released to the public by NASA scientists.
Good stuff.

Good one, as usual. I especially liked the #1 listing for Dubya. Funny.

Favorite quote this week: “Is there any doubt that Scott McClellan is the worst White House press secretary of all time?” What a dolt that guy is.

SORRY! 2 years ago

Sorry if you got a bunch of identical messages from me re: this. Apparently it was sending them, but was giving me an “Application Error.” So I thought it wasn’t sending, and I kept retrying with fewer and fewer addresses. Those of you at the beginning of the alphabet probably got a bunch. I’m really sorry about that.

Another great site 2 years ago

The Progress Report
Every day they take two pieces from the news, and give progressive analysis of them. Very informative; good to read regularly. They also do some sutff on the side, and at the bottom, that are worth reading. The “Good News” thing on the side, especially, is a nice touch.
