We listed 2 things a few weeks ago and they didn’t sell. We relisted them last week, and the auctions ended yesterday and they still didn’t sell. I hate wasted effort.

We’ll try other items I guess, and get back to these later. People probably aren’t buying much now after the holidays, with the economy bad, etc. But don’t they realize I want these boxes out of my house?!

phooey!  — 6 months ago

We had 2 items listed that didn’t sell. Darn it! I hate the waste of effort as much as anything else. And I want these boxes out of my house.

I think we’ll try some different items and then try these specific ones again at a lower price. Any money we make is good, and I just want them to be with someone else, someone who actually wants them.

S listed 2 more things  — 7 months ago

And I spent some time today finding mailing boxes for those two things and for the other things that are waiting on the dining room table. Many of the items were stored in gift boxes not sturdy enough to mail, so this was a necessary step.

we sold something!  — 7 months ago

Only for the minimum price, but that’s OK with me. Since they’re collectibles, I like to know they’re going to someone who actually wants them, and not being overlooked/unrecognized at a donation center.

I’m hoping S will list something else tonight, or maybe even multiple things. I want that pile of boxes gone!

next step  — 7 months ago

I mentioned this under “declutter.” I need to prod S to list things. That’s his part of the ebay project.

I hate nagging. I hate it. I hope he’s feeling as open to making progress on this project as I think he is.

S (with E’s help) began photographing the items yesterday.

huge step forward  — 1 year ago

There’s a bunch of stuff I want to sell, but I had to do some prep work so it would be ready to photograph and write descriptions of. This organizing stage was holding me back. It just seemed so daunting! But this weekend I finally did it. What a great feeling!

Now, I am refusing to let the boxes get put back in the closet where they’d get forgotten again. They will get put on ebay and they will be sitting there as irritating clutter until this happens.

research  — 2 years ago

I just looked up the post office’s flat-rate shipping boxes and while they are appealing, I am not sure they are right for most of my items.

I’ve charged less for shipping than I’ve ended up paying on a number of occasions, so I like the idea of a guaranteed price when I ship the packages. But most of the things I am selling are very light, but not flat. So I’d have to use the $8.10 boxes, and I think that is more than the shipping would be if I went by weight. I don’t want to add to the cost of my items, because I want them to sell!

So, I think I will try selling a couple things and see how I do with the shipping. If we still can’t estimate well enough and we lose money on the shipping, I will revisit this.

losing ground!  — 2 years ago

My mother just gave me a ton of cross-stitch stuff she’d like me to sell on Ebay, since she can’t manage it (doing the needlework) anymore. So now there’s more for me to Ebay!

it’s a start. it’s only a small thing, but it’s a step in the right direction.
