I am really having trouble sleeping since in recent days my room-mate keeps coming in and out of the room very late. Of course I can’t say anything to her, because well… she has the right to come in and go out, and she actually doesn’t make too much noise. It’s just that I seem to have become a light sleeper. Last night I almost wanted to cry when I woke up at like 3am, and then again later. I think my problem is now I am trying to go to bed earlier as to wake up in the morning fresh, but since I am not dead, dead tired I don’t fall dead, dead sleep and can wake up more easily. I don’t know what to do, it’s very upsetting. :(

I am trying to sleep before 12:30 each night now, and wake up at about 7am. My alarm is pretty much my cell-phone with a Linkin Park tune… heh. That really wakes me up.
Yah. So I have like half an hour more to study. Better use the time! :)
Tips from astounding—
1) Get a alarm CD-player. You can have your Cd start playing at your preset time. Ofcourse you can record whatever you want on your PC, and then burn it on your CD.
2) Before going to sleep, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS drink one glass of cold water. NOT hot. But cold (good from your fridge).
3) As soon as you wake up from your Alarm, instantly (and I mean INSTANTLY) switch on all the lights in the room with the most amount of lights. (Reason is you want to make the room really bright). Then jog around the room and look almost towards the lights.
You want to run because: It increases your body temperature to 37. Because when you wake up, your body temp is very low, and that’s what keeps you gronky or zombie like.
You want to look at the light because: It instantly decreases the melatonin levels in your body. Melatonin is a checmical produced by the brain that makes you sleepy. And you want to get rid of this checmical ASAP otherwise you’ll either go back to bed or feel like a zombie. Look at bright light to get rid of it.
4) DO NOT eat anything at least 2 hours before you go to sleep. So the time between going to bed and having your last meal should be 2 hours.
I’ve been sleeping a lot better during the past three months, I have to admit. The big reason is that I’ve noticed that DESPITE my old ways (when I could go on 3 days without any sleep and work fine) now I NEED my six hours of sleep at least to be able to concentrate and do well throughout the day. I think it’s pretty good, and I think it helped a lot this terms. I still would like to continue improving on this goal though.
I slept well last night. Regardless of the fact that my bed was extremely uncomfortable. Now the key is to try to sleep before 12:30am and amange to get more than 4 hours of sleep each night (not. healthy.!)
