I’m interested in seeing 43 front yard shots (okay the 43 number is a bit cliche… so any number will work)
Give a brief description stating why this front yard is interesting. Things to consider for subject matter are:
- Interesting lighting
- Funny/Ironic yards
- Interesting/eye-catching home & yard combination
- Just hit you as interesting.
- day shots/night shots

Well, since it was too icy and snow covered to make it to work today (given I live on a steep hill)... I went for a walk this afternoon and took the following pictures.

There are a few others here

I got home tonight just before a big Snow Storm closed down most of my area and with below freezing temps expect tonight… its not likely I’ll be making it to work tomorrow.
So, I went out again with my DSLR and captured what life presented. a few selected photos can be found here:

The town I live in is fairly close to sea-level and in a place where lowland snow is not very common. It seems this year we’re in for some unusual snow.

This last weekend (6/10/06) I shot a graduation ceremony for my oldest daughter’s nursing class. I got the following results shot from about 30 meters away using a 400mm Nikon lens and my Nikon D70.
Some more examples are here

Well, I’m going to challenge myself to doing “portrait photography”. I much prefer to shoot photo-journalistically but, the money is in shooting event portraits. So, this year I’m going to be shooting a Dance. At the dance I’ll be taking the dance photos of each couple. This is going to require I be very very meticulous and take repeatable photos. Something I’m not used to doing. Some samples as the photos come available.

I got this image at the party… Shot from across a room with my Nikon D70 300mm (using a 70-300 zoom lens).

It appears that I love faces, its what I’m drawn to. Capturing people simply being. I love this photo and how the cropping worked out.

Today, I tried expanding my experience range in photography by shooting a Drill Competition for one of my Girl Scouts. The attached photo is one of my favorites from the event.

Waiting for my youngest to finish a class she goes to and looked out the sun roof of my car. I saw this tree swaying in the breeze as we have one of our usual late winter/early spring rain storms here in the US Pacific Northwest. Well, it just sort of caught my eye… Here’s a cropped version of the shot. The shot was taken at 18.30 (6.30 pm) and under conditions here that most folks would take as “nighttime” but it truly was twilight.
I like this because of the clouds in the back giving a diffuse backlight and the tree simply becoming a dark lines. (Note, this kind of photography is not something I do much… so I’m starting to play.)
