macedonia! so i have about 5 days to decide if i want to go to macedonia for 2 years and teach english to primary school kids. i dont know if it’s the climate for me but other than that, seems great. the only problem is that my dentist wrote that i need to have my wisdom teeth pulled though i’ve had them for 7 years without trouble (knock on wood) so i would have to do that at my own expense unless the peace corps will take a second opinion. seeing as my program would leave a month after i get home from new hampshire, i wont have much time to get that sorted or save up enough money to have some teeth pulled for no reason. i’ve also got a phone interview tomorrow for an internship with my dream school. we’ll see how that goes. i’m not sure if i’m qualified for it. so little time to decide. i wasnt expecting an invitation until i got home. eek! freaking out a bit here
finished with all of the medical exams. just need to pick up my labs that say i dont have hiv or any other diseases. the incredibly professional staff at the clinic were scaring me a bit when they were (right in front of me) discussing how uncertain they were about how to even do one of the tests, but they just took a few blood samples and i survived. my dentist seems to think that Peace Corps will not send me anywhere until i get my wisdom teeth pulled, but he’s been trying to get me to get them out for about 7 years now—to prevent the possibility of infection if i don’t keep them clean enough. yeah, good time to graduate and no longer have insurance for a lovely day of tooth pulling. well anyway, fingers crossed that i am healthy enough and now i wait…
I have a nomination for somewhere in the Pacific Islands! The program involves doing teacher education, some elementary classroom teaching, and some teaching in the community. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll end up there, but the nomination is the important thing.
