I went with my sister to buy plants for her yard today. Four hours and waaay too many dollars later we left with a truck-full of plants. Judging by the smile on her face, you really CAN buy happiness.

They had the most incredible selection of herbs anywhere from the usual like rosemary and lavender, to the unusual like pineapple mint and curry. Sure, in the back of my brain I probably grasped that curry had to originate outside of a Tesco packet—but to be able to touch it and smell it and put it in dirt, that so tilts the neato scale.

It reminds me how much I’ve missed having a garden of my own. Once I get back home and settled into my own flat, I’m going to set up an area for my own (mini) garden.

Flat of flats?  — 2 years ago

It looks like I’m not going to be owning another piece of property any time soon. I wonder if I just kept pots of herbs in my kitchen if that would count as an herb garden?

I just finished reading “Herbs for the Home Medicine Chest” and it’s inspired me to grow my own herbal garden. When I had a house I kept jars of my own rosemary and lavendar, but it never went any further than that. Maybe I’ll get a flat where there will be a nice sunny window, or a small outside deck.
