I was invited and have had it on my list for a long time. Just not sure how to use this as a vehicle to unite the world…though it’s nice knowing there are others that would like to see our world united. Best of luck to all of you sticking with it.

I thought that I would do something similar with a more specific theme…another 43 Thinger and I suggest “Unite the world through sharing poetry”...if anyone wants to join, please do!
HavanaCat is traveling though time and will return last week
It’s been a while since I last posted for this goal, and so I thought of sharing one of my favourite Pablo Neruda poems.
When I returned from so many journeys,
I stayed suspended and green
between sun and geography -
I saw how wings worked,
how perfumes are transmitted
by feathery telegraph,
and from above I saw the path,
the springs and the roof tiles,
the fishermen at their trades,
the trousers of the foam;
I saw it all from my green sky.
I had no more alphabet
than the swallows in their courses,
the tiny, shining water
of the small bird on fire
which dances out of the pollen.
Sophia in Wonderland living it!
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Fairyfearless had recently posted a line from a Chinese proverb: “We are all lost people in this world; do we need introduction?” and I found this gem among my saved quotes: “Ships that pass in the night and speak each other in passing; Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life we pass and speak one another, Only a look and a voice; then darkness again and a silence. -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, poet (1807-1882)
I have a proposition for everyone on 43 Things…just for today, make a connection with a stranger, be it someone in the line-up at the grocery store, or someone at the bus stop…smile and talk about the weather, the flowers, or compliment him/her in some way…a little gesture goes such a long way.

I have already posted the link to this movie on another goal, but I thought that it would be perfect to help unite the world with blessings! Enjoy!

This is for all of the people who believe like I do that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Salvation.
When you start to speak of the reasons we need war in the world be it a war on terrorism, a war on drugs or a war on our neighbors for land or oil ask yourself Who would Jesus bomb ?

There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. -Dalai Lama
