Sunday was a success. Just my computer and me. My bf was coding w his friend and so, all three of us were busy enough to just enjoy ourselves, without the TV on.
I also think that I kinda “brainwashed ” my bf. Today, we only watch it for 1 hour and we switch it off voluntarily. Amazing !
I wanna thank poulet for inviting me to this goal, I truly enjoyed and challenged myself. One GIGANTIC hug to poulet !

there were some weak moments..monday after work was bad, but i shut it off after a couple of hours. we didn’t watch it at all while we were on vacation, which wasn’t hard. yesterday, though, after i took hubby back to the airport and was tired and bored, i had a “sex and the city” marathon. season three arrived on two dvds before we left for florida. i guess it’s better than mindlessly watching whatever is on, but i spent the whole freakin’ day on the couch. pathetic.
anyway, all in all, i would say this was a good experiment. it has made me more aware of how much time i spend in front of the tube and how much crap there is out there. i’ll have to try to keep the spirit of tv turnoff week alive throughout the year.
Sixth day and counting. Feeling the struggle now to switch on the tv, I have been home the whole day, very tempting, the remote is just within my arm’s reach. I have been surfing, reading, and went out to get groceries. It is now 10min to 1800 in CPH. Gotta stay determined to get through saturday.
I went to a girlfriend’s place for dinner last nite :P guess what was already switched on before we were at her place :) Her bf has the tv on the whole evening and my eyes kept drifting there. However I managed to watch bits and pieces of mtv channel and some news. Kinda like a some dose to keep my nerves down :)
This morning, still no tv when I had breakfast. 5 days and counting.
I have a post-it note on my tv also – I did watch a little too much tv Sunday night but its been off since then.
Luckily I enjoy listening to baseball games on my computer – listening that is – not watching :-)

i had an unbelievably crappy day yesterday that when hubby turned the t.v. on, i didn’t say anything. he went over to a friend’s house to watch a movie shortly thereafter, and i turned it off when he left, but feeling so lousy, all i wanted to do was zone out and not think about anything.
and sure enough, when i get up this morning, i have not the will power not to turn it on and watch the morning news – again!! that’s two days in a row!! i was thinking that going on vacation this week was going to be cheating, but i’m glad we’re getting away from the evil machine.
i’d also like to add that there are SO many commercials. oh my lord, that’s reason enough alone to shut the damn thing off.
:P It is hard to kick the habit of having cereal with the morning news. I had to remind my bf to do switch off the tv too this morning, we are putting a post-it on our tv now :)

i’ve gotten in the habit of eating my cereal before i go to work and have the morning local news show on in the background so i can catch the weather and the traffic. sure enough, what do i this morning? yeah. way to go on the first day, pfeff. sheesh. i’m turning it off now and leaving it off.
