Wow, amazing new thing we heard about. Taking a detox foot bath with an ionic cleanse machine. You see pictured of other people taking the foot bath and the water turns from clear to brown, black, or green (depending on which internal organs you are releasing gunk from) and then the after pix of crud in and floating on top of the water. DISGUSTING, but it really works. I did one Wed and the water turned brownish/orange with tinges of black and green- so most of the internal organs were detoxing. Even saw some black flecks in the water which they tell me is heavy metals coming out. It’s a visually stunning display of all the toxins in our bodies waiting to come out. Better in the bath water than in me is all I have to say!!!

I got a new bike a few weeks ago and shipped it here from Oahu. Haven’t ridden a bike much for about 8 years so this was a first. I guess as I am getting older the idea of falling off and the time it takes to recover makes it less appealing. But the Tour de France has been an inspiration!

I did something new today. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary with a nice dinner out at Bubba Gumps. We also spent the day in a training class with a wunderkid from Kansas who was teaching us the latest procedures, shortcuts and info on our QXCI/SCIO biofeedback device. So instead of sitting on a nice beach sipping mai tai’s, which we can do any day, we sat in a hot classroom expanding our knowledge of a wonderful, fascinating and powerful program to relieve stress, pain and promote relaxation.
Photos coming soon.

Today I didn’t actually do something new. But the cast of my hand was (finally) taken off and then my hand was x-rayed again and examined. It’s not bruised, only sprained pretty heavily. Anyway: when this cast was taken off, my arm and hand felt so strange, as if it wasn’t really mine. Well, it was, that’s what I realized once the pain kicked in again… But it was so fascinating to feel this and to finally be able to use it again. It made my (very rainy) day. ;-)

We went to the beach today, which my husband and I usually don’t like to do. But our daughter does and we enjoyed seeing he play in the (cold) water. It was terrific. So even though I couldn’t go into the water, I had a really good time.

Today I had some ice cream. Well, not thaaaat special. But I had it at work. And I was actually busy. And I asked someone else to help me, so I even got another person into this as well. And I just stopped what I was doing, putting everything back, asked my collegue who was supposed to help me to come along and went downstairs to have some ice-cream. And it was so incredibly nice – especially in that company!

A bit out of the need of something to do after work (since I can’t do that much with one hand) but also to just relax a bit I went outside somewhat earlier today. It was very hot and I sat down in the shadow, reading in my book. It was lovely! It was for only a few minutes but it still felt great before going home and meeting my family. And a much better alternative to spending this time in the lab, waiting until it’s time to go home!

Now this is something new: I took a new way to work an was too fast in a sharp turn (plus someone from the other direction was pushing me to the outside) and I flew off the bike, scratched my chin, nose, hands and knees, tore my trousers and broke my hand. Definetely new, but not worthy to repeat!!!
Something positive about it: A man stopped and helped me up, took me to his house where his wifegave me some band aids while he checked the bike. I was touched by this and definetely will stop for a big thank-you-note as soon as I can bike again.

Lots of new things the last few days:
On monday we got a lot of earth, some toys and plants for our garden and planted them all. It was so much work and quite tiring, but also a lot of fun. And it was really worth it.
Yesterday at work there were some new experiments which were quite exciting and afterwards a dinner outside in our new garden. It’s the first time the weather was dry and warm enough to sit outside and we enjoyed it a lot.
Today I had to teach some students – totally unprepared (they were two hours early and I was so busy…)! But with some improvising and some help of a collegue it turned out a successful morning for the students. In the afternoon I went to get my hair cut. I didn’t have time to do that in months and it was more than time to get it done. So for the first time I went to that place in the hospital where I work to get my haircut. And it was very good, very friendly and without having to wait at all! A very positive surprise!

I’ve decided to check this goal as “completed,” since I’ve been doing all sorts of new and different things over the past few weeks. Originally, I said I’d do it for a month, but in thinking about this since I added the goal, I’ve seen that I am well into the habit of doing new and different things, and having this as a goal was a great way of becoming more conscious of it.
I’m not checking it off so I’ll be “off the hook” for doing more new things. Actually, having this as a goal has almost been a hindrance a couple of times. There have been days that I considered NOT doing something new, since I’d already done something else new already that day. “Should I bake bread with C today? Oh no – better wait until tomorrow, since I already did yoga in the park for the first time earlier this afternoon). And there’s no point in waiting to try things, just to have them to check off on a list. Even though I’ve not done thirty days’ worth of new things, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve done at least thirty new things in total. So, I’m going to call this complete. I’m really glad I did it, though – like I said, having this as a goal was a great way of becoming aware of the things I’m doing, and helping me to make choices that would be new and different. I intend to keep this energy going in my life into the future.
Oh, and over the past few days new things have included the two I mentioned above (although I didn’t actually bake the bread with my son yet – I’d had decided that we WOULD, but then realized that we needed milk. So that will have to wait until today :D). But I had a great time doing yoga at the community garden (first time outdoors AND first time in public like that). And I’ve cooked a bunch of new stuff over the past few days. And this morning, I assembled a new lamp. First time I’ve done that – and it’s going to be GREAT having more light in that room.
Yeah. Lots of new and different things going on for me right now.
