Moving Out 4 months ago

After 3 years in NYC, I’m sad to have to leave. I can’t say I will miss everything about the city (the smell of garbage in the summer and the crowded 6 train during rush hour are definitely good things to leave behind) but I will miss the all-night delis, the random street performances and the serendipity of finding a great little restaurant down some side street in the East Village. I think in time I will even miss the slow, sidewalk blocking walk of the tourists who have wandered away from Times Square :)

It’s been a great ride and I hope I will have a chance to come back and do it again sometime.

I went to a sneakily fantastic Spanish restaurant 1 year ago

that resides in the bottom of a Spanish social club on 14th St. between 7th and 8th in Manhattan. Delightful tapas and lovely paella. Literally a hole in the wall..

And when I’m more together, I’ll enter the exact address.

My Spanish teacher held his final class there. Big fun!

far away 1 year ago

so i’m done and moved to england, one of my 43t goals for a while. and i only lived in new york for one year, but somehow it got under my skin and i find myself missing it every day. ESPECIALLY:

*runs on the esplanade
*H&H Bagels on the Upper East Side (79th and 2nd Ave)
*God’s Love We Deliver in Soho (a great place to Volunteer)
*DTUT, my lovely little coffee shop

so when i’m done with this Masters Programme, i’m toying with moving back. once a new yorker always a new yorker?

How to help... 2 years ago

Thanks for all the restaurant reviews, but you should put them over on 43places.com so people can read them when they’re looking for them…

First, search around the site and see if someone already has your place. There are a lot of restaurants already on the site, and you can easily add content to them just like you do with 43things. If you click “I’ve been here!” or “I want to go here!”, you can add an entry, photos or tags.

If you want to add a new place, start on the New York City page on 43places.com and navigate down into the right borough and neighborhood. [If you don’t quite know where it is, just add it to the top of NYC and someone will sort it into place later.] When you get as close as you can, click on “Add a Place” and type in the name in the little box that appears.

New York City Pool 2 years ago

When you have time, pop by the New York City Pool and skim recent entries.

You can cheer those you feel should appear on the front of the New York City Locals page.
