in these past few weeks to get this goal going. I am finally wearing the pedometer every day and staying over 10,000 steps. I will continue to adopt this goal, as the American Cancer Society does each January as a reminder, but for now I think I have made good use of it.
Good luck guys!

Although I don’t fully paticipate online, this goal is helping me in so many ways! I follow the step counter game religiously and enjoy Renee’s commentary. Keep up the GREAT progress! You are keeping me going girl!

Fell off the wagon this week. With heavy restoration on the house and extreme social event lists, I have overstepped my limit on carbs and wine. Luckily, red wine has been adopted as the health benefit of the week. However, my water intake has taken a nose dive as well. Better luck next week!

Almost right on target – I worry about my water intake. I tend to go in spurts with my 8 glasses a day. It seems as though unless I carry a bottle with me everywhere I go, I will forget about it. This is a crucial time to drink water because of all the physical work I am doing on my house, so I need to motivate myself.
This week: 200
Weekly Goal: 218

Working on my new house has proved to be a great workout! I was surprised to glimpse at my step counter and see up to 18,000 steps just from cleaning or working in the gardens. An old house proposes many obstacles in which forces me to become much more physical. Just like doing 1,000 squats, 300 lunges and 5,000 standing crunches… so it seems, almost tricking myself into a major workout. It is a physical workout that you just can’t get from a gym or workout bench, but along with it I am keeping my goals in mind and walk as much as possible. My setbacks have been my water intake as well as my fruits/veggies, but with this in mind, I will try a little harder. I am proud to say that this week, I have gone over goal! I will have a home online connection by next week – FINALLY!!! No more of this Net Café business, so I will be able to regularly post my progress again.

I am still not online, so I didn’t get a chance to come down to the internet cafe by Sunday… I am doing well on my points, however, and have been more motivated since I have started my walking again. Been doing the “Turbo Jam” video 20 min a day & feel an extreme difference!
Week 1 Points: 185
Weekly Goal: 218

Here is a sample formula for setting your goals:
My points goal:
Up to 10,000 steps per day for 7 days
At least 20 minutes of physical activity a day 5 days a week = 120 min/wk.
8 8oz glasses water per day = 56 glasses/wk
5 fruits & vegetables per day = 35 servings/wk
Conversions:
7 days of steps fulfilled = 7 points
120 min exercise = 120 points
8 glasses water = 56 points
35 servings = 35 points
TOTALS – 218 is my weekly goal
My total points for the trial week was: 143 because I didn’t complete my workouts every day and my water intake was low.
After mowing the lawn, I achieved a record-breaking 16,000 steps on my step counter the other day! I love it!!
I hope this helps with your goal-setting… Let’s aim for starting our official week one on Monday, October 16th & try to post our progress the following Sunday the 22nd.
Good Luck!

I had a good week… got my 10,000 steps in every day and stuck with my schedule, although I didn’t get all of my workouts in. I am still adjusting to the move and my workouts onsist of moving furnature and walking on the beach. My next major goal is to start lifting weights again.

Yes, I’m finally using my step counter and it is a challenge to reach that 10,000 steps every day! I get to about 7 or 8,000 and then realize that I need to take a walk! It is so motivating. I have been doing a lot better on my water intake, as I have been feeling very dehydrated, so I cary my jug of water everywhere I go. I have also developed a good vitamin routine at dinner time: I just go down the line on all of my individuals and end it up with a handful of almonds and a glass of V8 juice! Sounds crazy, but it forces me to get everything that I need for the day. Eating 5 or more veggies or fruit a day is easier with the juice as well.

How would you ladies like to start this on Monday, the 2nd? You can use this goal to talk about your progress anytime, but try to post our points after each Sunday…
I’m excited to get started! I tried wearing my step-counter the other day as I climbed up a 165 step monument, and was so disappointed that by the time I came down, it had died. So I have to purchase a new one this weekend.
I hope you guys will enjoy this challenge… Let’s get stepping!
