and the main reason is – my feet were really hurting! I finally found a podiatrist and I have a bone spur on my big toe joint. Might have to have surgery eventually. I had some orthotics made and I’m currently breaking them in. I’m going to a shoe store that specializes in problem feet next week for a fitting.
No more cheapo shoes for me. I had been doing fine until I stood for 4 hours straight in a pair of cheapie heels in September. Then ouch, ouch, ouch! As my mom always tells me = take care of your feet dearie ;)
I end up going for two walks a week. It is not as good as every day, but it is not the only workout I have been doing.
My supervising teacher walks with one of her neighbors every morning. But I consider myself fortunate if I get there with everything I need for all of my lesson plans. I will have to find a way to work into my evening routine.
And that seems like a good excuse for the fact that I have not walked in a while.
Friday: I went for a walk in the woods in Stockbridge, MA.
Saturday: my daughter and I both had horrible colds, so we did not very much of anything.
Sunday: Went for a half hour walk down by the Housatonic river. So beautiful.
Monday: I’m counting trick or treating as my walking. We were walking for over an hour, although I admit to stopping at many houses. The pain in my thighs seems to qualify this.
Tuesday: Didn’t walk.

How are you doing, my lovely teammates?

I changed this goal from the 10,000 steps a day to “walk regularly” —it appears to have changed the goal for you 2 as well and we are still a team of 3! Hmmm? A 43things glitch?

and changed it to walk regularly. The pedometers drove me crazy – they never worked properly, they popped off my waistband at strange times, and were generally a pain in the patootie.
I’m hoping to make it a habit to stop at one of the two parks I pass on the way home from work for some regular exercise.
I loved being on a team with two great women for this goal, but in reality it was not as helpful as I had hoped. I didn’t lose any weight this way, and in the end my feet ended up hurting too much for me to feel healthy. I did complete the prevention 3 week body makeover. That was helpful and made me feel very strong. It does help me to be part of a program, not just on my own.
Purplefibremom and Justini, if you are still working on this I will support you, but I had to take it off of my list.
